Protesters At Mortgage Bankers Assoc. Meeting: No More Foreclosuers!  And…Free Mumia!

Is it just me, or is one of the greatest things about the right to free speech - aside from being able to say whatever we want - being entertained while watching morons like the ones depicted below say anything they want?

I’m not a fan of “reality” television, but I’d watch a show dedicated to nothing more than interviews with left-wing protesters.  Now that would be fun for the whole family.

Who’s with me?

Comments

Hmm, over credited slackers demanding that since I’m savvy enough to not fall into their rut I must give my equally hard earned wages to bail them out. I know there’s something wrong with the picture, I just can’t seem to put my finger on it. Perhaps someone like RBB can explain in simple terms so a moron like myself can understand?

Rob,
I think you are on to something here. Slacker TV would be a huge hit. Advertisers are too spineless to support it but the pilot would be hilarious.

I loved the loser demanding to share the wealth. What does he have to share? Those gay pink glasses maybe?

funny stuff

I wonder which part of not “impairing the obligation of contracts” any of these morons do not understand.

Perhaps you’re wrong, advertisers know suckers when they see them, and adjust marketing tactics accordingly...As Curly said “look at the grouse”...yeh, yeh, yeh

Here I thought Harry Reid was coming up with his own stuff.

Who knew he had a brain trust?

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.

What have you got against Texas and why do you think we would accept him.  Hmmm, we do have the death penalty here so maybe…

Where’s my “safety net?”
As an investor, I expect the government to make sure I never lose any of my nest egg.

I have a question for anyone out there in Blogger land. I thought I heard at one time that Congress changed the standards that the Mortgage Companies used to issue/approve someone. Somtime in the mid-90’s Congress lowered the standards for who could be approved. Thereby allowing people with poor credit capable of getting a mortgage. Anyone know of something like this?
Thanks...........

Rich,

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, the two Government Sponsored Enterprises (GSEs) which buy, bundle and securitize so-called “conventional” or “conforming” mortgage loans, thus keeping the mortgage market liquid, are not directly controlled by Congress.

FHA mortgage loans (and the very occasional VA loans) are “government” loans underwritten to standards and procedures established at the Department of Housing and Urban Development.  Usually Congress does not directly set underwriting guidelines, other than establishing a ceiling or upper limit for loans to be purchased by FHA.  Nor do I recall any specific action to lower standards directly during the mid 1990s.

On the other hand, there is always political pressure being applied from the Left by those who wrongly believe that home-ownership and the necessary financing are some sort of entitlement.  And there are always politicians willing to entertain such foolishness in an effort to pander to the unknowing in an effort to get votes.

The Community Reinvestment Act (1977) was revised to include credits for so-called “brown-field” cleanup loans in urban areas in 1995.  And of course there is some validity to the argument that CRA and the requirements placed on lenders was at least partially responsible for the current sub-prime mortgage mess.

These people got bad loans and/or bought houses they couldn’t afford.  If you can’t pay for the house you are living in then you shouldn’t be living there.  I am not going to bail you out (until the government steals from me to bail out your bad decisions).

A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers.

Bat One....thanks for the information. Seems the FHA was the area that made some changes but I would have to double check the facts. I am amazed that 30 or 40 years ago we had the same type of problems with Oil, SS, Immigration and Housing. Has the Congress improved on thing. NO...NO....NO...and NO but they spent a lot of money investigating each other to show how competent they are as opposed to the opposite party. Congressman Waxman is the perfect example of the type of members we now have in Congress. Of course, New Jersey has set the standard for ignoring a problem and expecting the tooth fairy to make it all better. Sorry for the rant but I do feel better.

Rich,

You are more than welcome.  I hope the information was helpful.

As for your rant, I can certainly appreciate that even a little, temporary relief, is welcome.  As a conservative, and a former New Jersey-ite, I can understand your frustration.

Rich I had done a post on an article about how the government created the subprime mortgage crisis.
You can read my post here, there is a link back to the original column.

Thanks Whislter....LOL....that is the article I was thinking of. Apparently this is the blog I read it at. My next stop is checking out SuperMemo to improve my memory.
