Propaganda MSM Style

The word “propaganda” has been tossed around in a few threads, and quite frankly, if Inigo Montoya were here, I’m sure he’d say:

You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.

For an example of real propaganda, we turn to the Main Stream Media’s treatment of the Alaskan National Wildlife Refuge (ANWR) as it pertains to oil drilling. These pictures should come as no surprise to anyone, but when the MSM speaks of those wascally Wepubwiccans wanting to drill in the “pristine” wildlife refuge, they typically show pictures like these:

When the reality is…

...more like this:

Propaganda? Or artful use of misinformation? (Or both!) You decide. The drilling would take place in a very small part of a reserve the size of South Carolina, but only the barren wasteland part of it. It might prove hazardous to some of the native species of mosquitoes during the summer, but in the winter, when the actual drilling takes place, very little would be disturbed.

The enviroweenies have always lied about drilling in ANWR, and the MSM have been willing accomplices. That’s propaganda!

Comments

Drilling isn’t going to harm a thing up there, even the area they are drilling in will be virtually unchanged as far as the wildlife is concerned.

This is just an example of the Marxists using the environmental message to destroy capitalism.

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.

Back when they started drilling up on the north slope, and when they built the pipeline, they told us the Caribou would die off and there would be an eco disaster.

Decades later?  No such problems have emerged.

There was the Exxon Valdez spill, of course, but that was hardly the fault of the oil drillers.

Just as a reminder, these pictures and the facts presented have been posted at SAB before!

The entire drill site is the size of South Carolina? And that’s small?

I’m not necessarily against drilling in ANWR, I’m for it, so don’t mistake my question as a provocation, but rather an inquiry to your concept of ‘small’

When the pipeline was constructed in the 70s, the 4-legged animals increased in numbers.  The liberals and MSNBC, et al are trying to bias voters by presenting false and misleading pictures.  There was even some pictures of penguins in the North Pole the last time they tried to lie and mislead OUR innocent civilians.

The reserve is the size of the state of South Carolina, not the drilling site.

No, but on second thought, I like the way you think!  Let’s get us some oil!

We could like strip mine the whole area and dump it in the soon to be ice-free arctic ocean.

Wow!
Sure makes it seem pretty “Stupid” to have banned drilling there in the first place, huh?

Anyone watch “Ice Road Truckers”? Perhaps the environazis should check it out, and check out the 100s of thousands of acres of actual pristine wilderness being despoiled every year by mining companies in Canada. Bit of perspective, what.

Exploited but for the most part not despoiled.

I like the show as well.

HEH, Last night I saw a “save the polar bears” commercial on comedy central, at first I thought it was a joke, turns out it wasn’t, they really did want me to send money...I started laughing at it, thought of what, I believe it was Glenn Beck, had to say about it; “I’d drill through a polar bears head if it would reduce the price of oil”. My sentiments exactly.

I like how the left wants everyone to mine and drill for oil on their land but won’t let anyone drill on our land. The ANWAR is not pristine is an artic waste land and who give a flying eff if we drill on it?

Polar bears love drilling operations, lots of tasty garbage to eat!
