Pretentious Boobery

I don’t mean to be picking on Oliver all the time lately, but his latest project is simply astounding to me.
Here’s a “button” he’s created to help ” get the imagery of the donkey and the words going along with it into people’s minds.”

We’re right? Why not “We’re perfect” or “We never make mistakes?”
I’ll admit that I’m probably about as right-minded partisan as they come, but I certainly wouldn’t be going around claiming to be right all the time. Just this week the political party I affiliate myself with screwed up big time on a spending bill. It was embarrassing and a huge mistake.
No political movement is perfect. Some are better than others, but they’ve all got their pro’s and con’s. It just seems a bit ridiculous, never mind down-right pretentious, to be pretending that your particular brand of politics is “right.”

I love the page "Rebrand Democrat". Absolutly hilarous!

Er, I see no GOP mea culpas for the spending bill, or any of their other mistakes. Heck, the leader of your party can't see a thing he's done wrong for the past four years.

Actually, Oliver, if you read the posts I linked you'll see that I criticized the GOP quite heavily for that gaff.

Do any politicians ever really admit their mistakes? The most you can hope for is that they'll recognize public outcry when they make one and fix it (even if it is a quiet fix).

I'm not cutting the GOP any slack for their mistakes, but then I'm not the one flying the "We're Right" banner around either.

Allow me to suggest a different text for Oliver's button: WE LOST

How "right" is it to avoid the 'slippery slope' by leaping off the cliff to the Left?

The project you made in response is downright brilliant.

Oliver had better sell a lot of swag, because Soros' money for Bush-bashing projects like Media Matters and Air America should be drying up soon.

I hear there's a job opening at CBS.

Poor O'Dumb. He's not only had to witness his candidate go down in flames, every time he comes up with an idea, conservatives co-opt it brilliantly.

    Poor, poor O'Dumb.
