Post Removed

Just for everyone’s information, there was a post that appeared here on Say Anything earlier this evening written by Steve Cates about the WSI fiasco we’ve been posting a lot about.  Steve had emailed the piece out to the media in the state to see if they’d published it, and included me in on that email (since I’m, you know, part of the media).  Well Steve didn’t intend for me to publish it yet as he didn’t want anyone in the media to have the “it’s already on the internet” excuse to not publish it.

Unfortunately, he didn’t make that clear in his email.

Steve got a hold of me earlier this evening while I was out to eat, and I was able to access the blog from a phone to make the post not visible to the public.  I hate doing that because we simply do not remove posts here on Say Anything.  If mistakes are made, they’re corrected in the post.  But it is Steve’s piece, so it’s his say as to whether or not it gets public.  Which irks me a bit, but that’s the way it is.  I was not able to get a post up explaining what had happened until just now.

Some will no-doubt make some insinuations as to why this happened (which is pretty much par for the course with this whole WSI fiasco), but rest assured that there is nothing untoward going on here.

If any of you would like a copy of the piece, as written by Steve and emailed to the media, just send me an email (contact link is on the sidebar) and I’ll forward it to you immediately.  Eventually the piece will appear here on Say Anything after the mainstream media gets its chance at it.

It happens.

The war against illegal plunder has been fought since the beginning of the world. But how is… legal plunder to be identified? Quite simply. See if the law takes from some persons what belongs to them, and gives it to other persons to whom it does not belong. See if the law benefits one citizen at the expense of another by doing what the citizen himself cannot do without committing a crime. Then abolish this law without delay … If such a law is not abolished immediately it will spread, multiply and develop into a system.

I’d still like to know the history and Party affiliation of the replacement Boucher is clamoring for. Call me suspicious, I just tend to see a repeating pattern in this sort of thing.

I’m not down on all the rules, but I’m pretty sure it’d have to be a Republican since they have the majority in the legislature.

When I read the article, I thought that it was posted by Cates as a guest blogger.  In retrospect (as you now know) you should have gotten his permission before posting his email.  Always a next time…

The mistake was Steve’s, not mine.  He sent out an email to several publications and CC’d me on it.  In the email he requested that his post be published.  So I did, not understanding that it was an FYI cc and not a “please do this as well” CC.

His email, to anyone reading it, indicated that I had his permission to publish it.  I am certainly not in the habit of publishing other people’s works without first asking them.

I didn’t think so.  It seems like Cates is being a bit disengineous.
