Pomeroy Staffer Specifically Invited Liberal Blogger To Press Conference For “Objective Media”

Yesterday I posted about an incident between myself and Congressman Pomeroy where I, apparently not a member of the Pomeroy-approved media, dared to call in and ask him how this health care bill he’s support could promote competition when Americans would be forced to buy their health care through a government health care exchange.
Pomeroy went on a rant after my question about how I was just an “arm of the North Dakota Republican Party” and that the press conference was for “objective media” only.
You can listen to our exchange again here:

After the incident I also called Pomeroy staffer Sandra Salstrom who told me, again, that I was just an “arm of the North Dakota Republican Party,” that the teleconference was for “objective media” only and that neither myself nor liberal blogger Adam Blomeke (who was also on the call) were invited.
The problem is that Adam Blomeke was actually specifically invited to take part in the call according to comments he’s posted on this very blog:

I have never spoken to Sandra until about 20 minutes before the call. I was merely searching for a press release and she pointed me to the conference call.

So a liberal blogger was invited to the call that I was told was for “objective media” only.
Apparently they only decided it was for “objective media” only after someone showed up and asked a tough question that wasn’t on Pomeroy’s talking points memo.
This press conference held by Pomeroy wasn’t about answering question. It was about distributing the talking points. Period.

Rob, I had an interesting call to Pomeroy’s North Dakota office yesterday, just before 11am. I was working at the time, and couldn’t hear very well. His office answered oddly: “Congressman Pomeroy…. ‘s office,” with a pause between “Pomeroy” and the added ” ‘s office”. It wasn’t the usual young adult voice, it was an older man’s voice. When I asked where the congressman stood on voting for or against the House health bill, I was asked my name, FIRST. I gave it. Then he asked for my address. I reiterated my question, and was read Pomeroy’s press statement, which says he supports the Democrat bill in the end.

I then said I urged him to NOT vote for the health reform bill, that it would be more government, possibly giving the government control of up to 20 percent of our GDP, and that I would actively work against his reelection if he did vote for it. And that I had never worked for or against anyone before, but would be doing so. That’s where it got a little weird for me.

I couldn’t hear well on my cell phone and I’m kicking myself for not asking for clarification, but I know for a fact that the other person, while sounding as if they were sort of thanking me for my input, used the words “talking points”. I’ve talked to a lot of office flunkies in the last few months, but no one has ever said anything to me about “talking points” in relation to what I’ve said to them. The more I thought about it during the day, the more I feel the person on the other end was being sarcastic and snarky. “Talking points” is a political term, usually used as a pejorative, especially when talking to someone in opposition to your view. I cannot prove it, nor can I be 100% certain. But this was my experience.

Oh, and the person’s voice on the other end of the line? Can I just say it sounds a lot like the recording above… but again, can’t prove anything and I’m not a hundred percent certain. Maybe he employs some older Americans to answer his phone in North Dakota. What do I know.

Rob, this whole political business with the very liberal left in charge is nuts!
These people are so bent on their agenda that they will take this economy into the ditch.
Where is our press? Where are our rational thinkers?
    Keep at’em. Hal

Earl is nothing more than a Pelosi Puppy, I guess he thinks he only answers to the democrats, I think it’s time for the NDGOP to start running some candidates that can take out Dorgan, Conrad and Pomeroy. They are nothing more than political hacks for their libeal leadership.

Its a little pathetic though that they’re accusing anyone who disagrees with them as being partisans or something.
