Poll: Less Than One In Four Voters Identify Themselves As Republican
This will no doubt have the liberals strutting around triumphantly as they try to promote the idea that the Republican party is moving to the margins, but I’ve got a different take on it.
First, ask yourselves this: What does the Republican party stand for?
Traditionally the answer wold be things like “lower taxes” and “limited government.” These ideals remain in the party’s platform to this date, in fact, but lately thanks the work of the much-heralded “moderates” liberals are suddenly oh-so-concerned about that hasn’t been true at all.
So if the party as represented by its members who are holding office isn’t standing for what the party is supposed to stand for, then is it any wonder that so few people still identify themselves with the party?
Because these days, when you say “I identify with Republicans,” what are you really identifying with?
When Republicans can be trusted to actually promote a definable set of principles and policies again their voter identification numbers will come up again. Getting rid of people like Specter is the first step in that direction.
