Poll: Hoffman Has A 15 Point Lead Over Owens In New York 23 Race

The race tightened a bit when Scozzafava dropped out, but Hoffman still appears to have a commanding lead.

Here are some interesting facts from our unweighted numbers so far:
-In a three way contest Doug Hoffman leads Bill Owens by 19 points. In a two way contest Hoffman leads Owens by 15 points. So the Dede Scozzafava withdrawal and endorsement will probably tighten the race some but not nearly enough.
-58% of Republicans think that Scozzafava’s a liberal and that was obviously before her endorsement today.
-The Rush Limbaugh effect- Hoffman has a 79 point lead with Rush listeners while Owens has a 6 point lead with people who don’t listen to the show.

Obviously, we’re not going to know anything for sure until election day tomorrow, but if Hoffman wins this race it’s a blow to Republican conventional wisdom which has it that we must run so-called “moderate” Republicans in order to win elections.
Hoffman can prove that conservatives can win.

Gee Boob, that GOP candidate was a long term incumbent wasn’t he?

    LMAO at your stupid point.

Forget wisdom, we need conservatism. Vote your heart, and the rest will take care of itself.

The gop took that seat in 2008, as they have done for years and years.

In the 2008 election, McHugh ran on the GOP, Independence and Conservative lines and handily defeated his Democratic/WFP opponent, Michael Ott: 143,029 – 70,037. McHugh received 12,958 votes on the Independence Party line.

Rumors that this is a close race exposes the public dissatisfaction with right wing extremists who are attempting a take over of the once proud gop.

If the rumors turn out to be true and the right winger wins with less than an overwhelming percentage, the gop/con remains in deep deep trouble.

new york, new jersey and virginia,,, gonna be fun!

  • jimmypop

we can only hope the gop leadership wakes up and says, ‘hey, this being conservative thing is just crazy enough to work!’

  • sayanything-51

1 year ago the gop candidate won 67% to 33%.

If the gop/con wins with a narrower margin would you say the gop/con gained ground or lost ground?

  • lock’m'up

Yea realitybasedbob, you are a stupid liberal communist.

  • sayanything-51

If by “long term incumbent” you mean only 6 years in office, why yes, he is a long term incumbent.

I guess I should start LMAO at your stupid point now, huh?

  • sayanything-693

    Rob,

This is a good and a bad thing. Good because it’s nice to see a “career politician” replaced by someone with ostensibly stronger principles. Bad because people who are tired or Big Government are reacting against Big Government liberals and flying right into the hands of Big Government social conservatives. (Who but the government enforces socially conservative values?)

It would be nice to see people run on a fiscal conservative platform instead.

Now that is some high quality spin.

Yes, it worked so well from 1980 to 2008.

You people have had nothing but failure.

Tell your kids to enjoy paying for it.
