Poll: 48% Think George W. Bush Was A Better President Than Obama
Democrat pollster Douglas Schoen polled 1,000 likely voters and…came up with some pretty shocking results. Jim Pethokoukis has the full run-down, but this is perhaps the most jaw-dropping:
43% say that Barack Obama has been a better president than George W. Bush, while 48% say Bush was a better president than Obama has been.
Also, 57% disapprove of the way Obama has handled his office and 56% say he doesn’t deserve to be re-elected.
As to who is better, Bush or Obama, I’d answer Bush…but only if I had to. He was marginally better than Obama, but we still had deficits throughout Bush’s term in office. Bush passed a massive expansion of Medicare which we couldn’t afford. Bush got the ball rolling on TARP and the auto bailouts.
Bush also bought into the idea of government-spending-as-stimulus, though not on the same scale as Obama. Remember the “stimulus checks” from the end of the Bush term?
What we need for this country isn’t a return to Bush-style Republicanism. We need something new entirely.
