Politics Of Fear: Obama Says Health Care Cannot Wait
In his weekly address to the nation, President Obama attempts to create the sort of urgency or crisis around his plans for government health care that is a staple of big government politics. Everything is a crisis, and the government response to it cannot be bogged down with silly notions like debate, deliberation and transparency!
Of course, the reality is there is no crisis. America is at the very pinnacle when it comes to quality of life and medical care for most of its citizens, and even the numbers of those who allegedly don’t have access to health care are grossly exaggerated.
Obama and his fellow proponents of big government simply want to create the appearance of a crisis which they can then use as leverage to ram-rod their policies through with as little debate and scrutiny as possible.
It is the politics of fear. And while Republicans are certainly no stranger to it (look at all the unnecessary expansion of government they justified with it after 9/11), Democrats have raised it to an art form.
