Politics Of Fear: Obama Says Health Care Cannot Wait

In his weekly address to the nation, President Obama attempts to create the sort of urgency or crisis around his plans for government health care that is a staple of big government politics. Everything is a crisis, and the government response to it cannot be bogged down with silly notions like debate, deliberation and transparency!

Of course, the reality is there is no crisis. America is at the very pinnacle when it comes to quality of life and medical care for most of its citizens, and even the numbers of those who allegedly don’t have access to health care are grossly exaggerated.
Obama and his fellow proponents of big government simply want to create the appearance of a crisis which they can then use as leverage to ram-rod their policies through with as little debate and scrutiny as possible.
It is the politics of fear. And while Republicans are certainly no stranger to it (look at all the unnecessary expansion of government they justified with it after 9/11), Democrats have raised it to an art form.

You probably have plenty of money to pay for health care now that your paycheck gets even more of our tax money to build roads through Obama’s stimulus money.

This a big JOKE. The stimulus money is NOT BEING SPENT ON ROADS, idiot. Eventually some may be, but the bureaucracy of the FHWY and ODOT can’t get going to spend it.

Yes, will this be the medical equivalent of the patriot act?

Of course this can wait; at least long enough to actually read the bill kwim?

These are people who won’t be affected by what they pass, and I for one, would like to know what is going to happen to my family, since we *will* be affected by whatever happens here.

None of this will kick in in Sept if they pass it in August, so even if this were to be the perfect bill, it can wait until we, the people, who will be affected by this, have time to read and debate and give our representatives our wishes about this.

The fact that they keep passing stuff that doesn’t even affect them drives me nuts. Put them on the same plan and you would see them take it seriously. Congress and the President and their families, no matter who they are, won’t have to worry about any of the details that come out of this plan, so it is quite easy to put your political views(and I mean both sides)before anything else, as it doesn’t touch you.

It is a crisis. If Barri can’t accomplish SOMETHING his ratings are going to fall and fall and fall.

Clearly we have to sacrifice the greatest health care system in the world to let Obama have a political victory.

“He betrayed us, he played on our fears!”

He is right, it cannot wait! Why? Because the longer it takes, the more America will hate this and it will die like HillaryCare. The Democrats must, without any delay get every socialist program in place, no matter how flawed, which is why they even added 300+ pages to a bill after it is passed. You must understand, once a social program is in place and people begin to depend upon it, it will never be taken away.

So far, the entire Obama administration has been “the politics of fear”, from his initial exaggeration and fearmongering about the economy, to the “stimulus bill” hustle to this latest fear-based pronouncement. Without the constant fearmongering, the American people would be able to see the utter failure of everything he has done, and proposes to do.

This guy practiced the politics of fear.

Go tell Gene that we don’t need health care reform as he gets further away from being able to afford it. Many of you will feel the same way as costs rise and more companies stop providing it to their employees.

On Tuesday, the Senate health committee voted 12-11 in favor of a two-page amendment courtesy of Republican Tom Coburn that would require all Members and their staffs to enroll in any new government-run health plan. Yet all Democrats — with the exceptions of acting chairman Chris Dodd, Barbara Mikulski and Ted Kennedy via proxy — voted nay.

How odd….why don’t they jump at the public plan if it will be so wonderful?

Debating healthcare and what we should do is one thing, but to see the very people that are jamming this through refuse to vote to go on the public plan is disturbing

Bad leaders use crisis to influence others to make hasty decisions. Problem is, people will believe less and less of what that leader says.

This guy practiced the politics of fear.

    And liberals don’t? LOL!!!!

Everything your side does is based on the politics of fear and class warfare, which is fear of those that have more.

From the bogus junk science of “climate change”, which used to be “global warming”, to overpopulation to “the green movement”, you politicize EVERYTHING and your entire philosophy is based on fear, envy and greed.

Most people do fear losing coverage or going broke paying for a health emergency.

You probably have plenty of money to pay for health care now that your paycheck gets even more of our tax money to build roads through Obama’s stimulus money.

In the meantime, until all that stimulus money reaches you, you can just keep getting paid with the gas TAX and road use TAX money that supports your company.

Your whole LIFE is funded by the government. If you had principles you’d tell your company NOT to accept money from a Kenya-born, illegal President.

    YES IT CAN!

Leave your nasty butt-scratchers off of health care!

  • robert108

The entire greedy govt is funded by the private sector, which is the source of all wealth in this country.

  • Ozcar

Your whole LIFE is funded by the government.

That’s an incredibly stupid thing to say. Just out of curiosity, where does the government get this money it allegedly funds our lives with?

Government health care will be worse than the Patriot Act. Even worse than the left’s most brazen and baseless exaggerations of the Patriot Act.

Already, in the “stimulus” spending bill, there was a part which allowed for the creation of a national health care database for our medical records including a provision allowing the government to review our care and treatment for “efficiency.”

If Obama manages to herd us all on to government health care (and that’s his goal) that provision will suddenly have teeth beyond a mere invasion of your privacy. If you’re on government health care, and some bureaucrat decides you’re not getting “efficient” treatment (even if it’s the sort of treatment you prefer) they’ll begin dictating your treatment too you.

And the standard for efficiency will be what’s best for the federal government. Not what’s best for you. If you’re a hale and healthy 75 and you get cancer they may just decide that it would be efficient for their budgets to treat you.

If you’re 80 they may decide that you’re too old for a knee replacement.

So not only is your medical life laid bare to the federal government for scrutiny, but they’ll be able to manipulate your medical life as well.
