Politico Journalist Caught Doctoring Fred Thompson Quote

Roger Simon of the Politico (not to be confused with Roger Simon of Pajamas Media) has been a rather forthright critic of Fred Thompson and his campaign since day one. Which is all well and good as Simon is certainly entitled to his opinion, and these days biased and one-sided “journalism” has become so common as to almost not be worth mentioning any more. But now Simon has been caught unambiguously doctoring a quote from Fred Thompson in order to make the candidate look foolish.
So far the Politico isn’t saying much about the matter, but it’s pretty clear to this observer that Simon owes a correction and an apology.

Politico.com is generally a highly regarded site for well balanced, accurate reporting of, and commentary on, all things political. If Rob’s observation is correct, then Politico needs to move VERY QUICKLY to reestablish its credentials. We all know what the usual solution is: The offender must go. I only wish Rob had given us the actual doctoring of Thompson’s statement or a link to it.

Now if he had doctored Thompson’s background to make it look like he had the necessary experience to be POTUS, now THAT would have been something.

Politico is a left-wing rag. Nothing they say against a Republican surprises me.
