Police Officer Who Engaged And Took Down Shooter Is Identified

In the highest tradition of police work, she ran toward the gunfire:

The hero cop who ended the bloody rampage at Fort Hood had been directing traffic moments before she confronted the gunman and pumped four bullets into him despite being shot herself.
Civilian police Sgt. Kimberly Munley and her partner responded within three minutes of reported gunfire Thursday afternoon, Lt. Gen. Bob Cone said Friday.
Munley, who had been trained in active-response tactics, rushed into the building and confronted the shooter as he was turning a corner, Cone said.

She didn’t bother with cover and concealment when she got there. She utilized the training that police everywhere got after the initial debacle of the response at Columbine. She engaged:

Munley was only a few feet from crazed Army psychiatrist Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan when she opened fire.
Wounded in the exchange of gunfire, Munley was reported in stable condition at a local hospital.

Hell of a job, Sarge.
A footnote:
I have to wonder how much praise this courageous officer will receive from the liberals on the left now that she’s shown the entire world that a woman can more than hold her own in the world of law enforcement. Just asking, but it seems like the folks at NOW should be gushing over this woman, doesn’t it? She certainly deserves all the praise they can lavish on her, and more.
And, they might. Sort of a litmus test, isn’t it? They hated Palin. What will happen this time?
We’ll see.
Another footnote:
Pam over at Atlas Shrugs points out that this is a sort of poetic justice and wonders how cringeworthy in the Muslim world, at least the radical Muslim world, this will be now that we know the Muslim shooter was taken down by a woman.
Maybe that’ll dampen the celebratory spirit that they’ll be feeling over this.
Oh, and there’s a great picture of her over there. Apparently explosives do indeed come in small packages.
Thanks to Proof for the tip.

Berlin wall boy rejoices at the death of 13 American soldiers and assumed that they would have killed the “civilians”. Now where did I hear that before? Think hard… Oh, I remember some guy by the name Hasan, gave similar thoughts before going on a murdering spree. I also remember Berlin Wall Boy saying that conservatives should be euthanized. Hmmm… Say what’s DHS’s website for reporting potentially postal nuts? Or should I just report it FBI? Thankfully this website keeps comments.

    You’d let her. Yeah right.

  • sayanything-4625

The only weak sister here is you Dino. I really don’t know how your vile droppings are supposed to be seen as anything but trolling. They aren’t persuasive just vile.

  • http://SayAnythingBlog.com The_Whistler_ofnd

Well almost all of the victims were disarmed. Can’t have guns on a military
    base.

  • http://proof-proofpositive.blogspot.com/ proof_positive

There’s a picture of her standing next to some dude, over at Atlas Shrugs. She just comes up to the guy’s shoulder. Dynamite comes in small packages!

  • Lioncourt

Job well done. Hope she gets well soon.

  • sayanything-2

Notice the leftards have nothing but support for and defense of the Muslim terrorist. As usual.

  • sayanything-3165

Oh, and Dino – glad to see you’re still an imbecile. Don’t ever change

I have to wonder if eventually we’ll be hearing about Dino initiating a similar cowardly attack.

  • sayanything-38

I just added an afterthought above: I wonder how much the left will love her?

By the way, Whistler, today I’d LET her kick my butt if she wanted to. Hell, today I’d shine her shoes. Who knows how many lives she saved?

  • sayanything-2

Oh, and she ain’t all that short. That pic is of her with country singer Dierks Bentley, he is around 6’1″ or so.

  • sayanything-2

Pil, I can assure you that the left in America, represented by dinothefakehomo, will attack her at every turn. And the fatwa for her death has already been written. A shem’ar can not be allowed to live, according to the Qur’an.

  • sayanything-38

I linked the Atlas Shrugs site in another update above. The point is brought up there that the radical Muslim world will probably probably resent the fact that he was taken out by a woman.

    Heh.

Oh, and Dino – glad to see you’re still an imbecile. Don’t ever change.

  • sayanything-2

Perhaps Barri should properly set his priorities, kiss ass and schmooze after making a statement about the tragic events, you stupid c&nt.

  • sayanything-4625

Thank you for being the canary in the mine and showing us how libs, Dims and leftie’s really feel. You are good for that.

I wonder if any of your fellow travelers will show up to denounce you or support you? Oh spelling bee?

  • sayanything-2

Yep, sanni, you sh&t all over America, our military, and anyone who serves in it, all the while defending Muslim terrorists. Keep posting, stupidass, let everyone see what you are.

  • sayanything-4625

I knew this was going to show up sooner or later. No one is questioning the bravery of women. Combat is more than shooting. How fast could she have run from her post directing traffic to the place of the shooting with her 80lb Alice pack on her back? How long do you think she can carry an 80lb Alice pack before she collapsed. Can she wear her pack, carry two extra claymores, two mortars an AT-4 and two belts of 60 ammo like the boy’s can? Now, can she carry that 80lb pack, an AT-4, two belts of 60 ammo and two sixty mm mortars on a 4 day patrol up and down the mountains in Afghanistan? What a freeking wingnut I am because I wonder if a 115 woman can carry 140 pounds of equipment for days at a time. Who knew?

  • sayanything-43

I mean if she wanted to, she could.

  • sayanything-559

*rolls eyes* did I mention I hate change, Rob?

  • sayanything-4625

I forgot the best reason to exclude women from combat, they get pregnant. There have been instances when the replacement rate for units going to the desert is upwards of 30%. I’m not implying that the women are trying to get out of going but just pointing out that 18-25 year old women are getting pregnant because that’s life. Plus, 9 months out of the field is hard on an infantryman. You lose your edge. Plus, if a guy goes 2 or three months without a real shower or bath that’s OK, women, not so much. Anywho, I guess I go back to my wingnut hovel with my wife and daughter and contemplate how I can keep women out of combat because I hate them so.

  • sayanything-43

    She’d kick Pilgrim’s butt.

  • http://SayAnythingBlog.com The_Whistler_ofnd

We had clean water before the feds got involved.

  • livealoha1999@hotmail.com

I forgot the best reason to exclude women from combat, they get pregnant.

Yeah, next we can exclude men because they get colon cancer.

There are probably hundreds of men who were saved by women war fighters.

  • Hanni

Rob sh@ts on the military officers, and Greg sh@ts on the women troops….what a team

  • Hanni

How fast could she have run from her post directing traffic to the place of the shooting with her 80lb Alice pack on her back? How long do you think she can carry an 80lb Alice pack before she collapsed.

Good point Greg, maybe she would get there a few seconds later, after the bad guys killed our troops….and just in time to take the bad guys out herself.

You really aren’t good with the logic buddy.

  • I don’t like today’s GOP

Comments like that do nothing for any cause. It was stupid and offensive and no better than the crap that the right spews.

  • sayanything-4625

And Hanni misses the point completely. That’s real shocking. Drop dead idiot. When you get a clue what I was arguing about call me back.

  • j.l.

Kinda puts to rest the libtard claim that guns are always bad.

  • sayanything-4625

What truth? That you’re a troll? That you like to say edgy things because you like to see people get upset? I’ve been in the military and I know for a fact that its a force of good. I know for a fact that its filled with good men and women that would not intentionally kill women and children. Your little trolling isn’t going to change that. Go back to the pit prepared and stop contaminating the thread of a hero with your foul droppings. You aren’t women enough to lick the shoes of Sgt Munley or her partner. Begone with you foul beast. Go stamp your hooves at someone who cares.

“I let the girl beat me up. Really I did.”

  • sayanything-559

What a hero… You go girl
    Thumbs up

  • sayanything-51

She bravely did her job and did it well.

Kinda puts to rest the wing nut claims that women shouldn’t be in combat.

  • sayanything-4416

In counting those lives she saved, would you be counting the Iraqi and Afghani families who those 13 American soldiers would have killed?

  • sayanything-7610

Thank God for heroes like Sgt. Munley!

  • bikebubba

Way off topic, but RCB’s comment deserves another response. The reason women are rightly excluded from combat is not because anyone argues that they’re not capable with a gun. Most firearms instructors will tell you just the opposite; women actually listen to instructions and don’t pretend to be John Wayne or John Woo, so they actually do better, especially at first.

Real reasons not to put women in combat:

    1. As Greg notes, being in combat is not just about pulling a trigger and hitting your target. It’s about getting your gear to the firefight, getting your injured comrades out, and such. Physical strength matters, and women are excluded for the same reason 60 year old men are.

    2. The Israeli army found out the hard way that it’s awfully hard on soldiers to watch a female comrade be injured or die. It’s a morale killer. (not easy when it’s a man, but when it’s a woman, far worse)

    3. Another morale killer is what happens when the rest of the squad watches Heather start a relationship with Bob. Unit cohesion matters.

    4. And finally, and probably most importantly, men are supposed to be the protectors.

There are other reasons as well. None of them necessarily exclude a woman from police work, nor do they impugn this woman’s heroism. I don’t know whether I could do the same, and I hope I never find out.

  • sayanything-4416

    Truth hurts, don’t it?

  • sayanything-81

Maybe we should fight our wars with women soldiers and pork bombs.

And we can start slaughtering our meats with their a$$ facing the little black box in Saudi Arabia.

While we’re at it, let’s do some sacrilegious stuff to the other religions too. Woo hoo.

Also, while you are hating on their religion, don’t confuse that with Arab-ness. There are plenty of atheist Arabs (who are obviously smarter than the Christians, Jews, and Muslims).

  • sayanything-4416

There’s no persuading a conservative. You people are hard-wired to be motivated solely by greed, selfishness and fear. That’s why it’s best to ignore your protestations and ram policy right through them.

I mean, your ideological ancestors fought clean water and indoor plumbing. Change is your enemy. Progress is an unknown concept to you.

  • sayanything-2361

“In the highest tradition of police work, she ran toward the gunfire:”

“Wounded in the exchange of gunfire, Munley was reported in stable condition at a local hospital.”

Heroic. Running towards the pointy end of the firing gun takes real courage. I wish her a full recovery.

The silver lining in tragedies like this one, if there really can be any silver linings, is that it also gives us heroes.

  • sayanything-6626

In the wake of the deadliest mass shooting at a U.S. base, President Obama on Friday cautioned against jumping to conclusions on the motive of the suspect.

“We don’t know all the answers yet and I would caution against jumping to conclusions until we have all the facts,” Obama said on the White House lawn.

Zero is a fine one to talk about not jumping to conclusions …remember the Boston Police incident? ….

Do as I say, not as I do…. Sounds like a Gangster wanting to be a Messiah to me….

  • bikebubba

Kudos to this young lady for what she did. May she recover quickly, and may the man she shot get a quick date with old sparky.

Evidently Dino is all in favor of jihadis being free to commit mass murder in Iraqi and Afghan neighborhoods, and has forgotten what they might do to homosexual neighborhoods in Portland if they got the chance.

Don’t eat spicy food or beans, Dino, or you’ll blow your head off. And take your meds.

  • sayanything-6626

…And well done Sgt. Kimberly Munley and her partner.

My prayers are with the victims of this animal known as Nidal Malik Hasan, his rank is not mentioned as he does not deserve to be honored with it.

  • sayanything-4416

There’s little written here that does anything good for anyone.

The conservatives were using the shooting against Obama within mere HOURS of it happening. By today, every con blog was alive with speculation and stories designed to use this tragedy as a club on Obama, the democrats and liberals.

Save your lectures. It’s weak sisters like you that they depend on so they can roll right over you. These are ruthless, bitter people who would do ANYTHING to get their way. They no more care about the victims of the shooting than they do about you.
