Plumber Who Talked To Obama At Rally Says He Wasn’t Impressed, Calls Him A Socialist

Good stuff from Cavuto’s show.  Background here if you missed it.

The thing about wealth redistribution is what it implies for future success.  Say you’re a young person just starting out.  You’re struggling a bit.  Living paycheck to paycheck.  So you jump on the wealth redistribution bandwagon.  You sign up with Barack Obama so he can send you a check courtesy of those who earn more than you do and thus pay more taxes.

But what happens if, during Obama’s term in office, you find success?  You move up in the world?  And now, suddenly, it’s your wealth being redistributed to people who didn’t earn it?  Kind of puts a disincentive on success?  I mean, why move up the ladder when Barack Obama will let you sit at the bottom and take from those at the top?

The exchange with this plumber SHOULD lose the election for Barry.  But the country as a whole has not seen socialism close enough to fear it.  It sounds good to the ears, so it must work.  But Barry told this man to his face that he was going to tax his plumber’s salary and give that money to others behind him..???

So, let’s play this game....

Say this plumber charges 35 per hour at the current tax rate.

Barry tells him that the new rate will be 25% higher than he currently pays, so that the folks behind him have the same opportunity to succeed.  Ok, so the plumber raises his fee to 45 per hour.  (Yes, I know that the increase is 28%, but round numbers work better.)

What just happened here is a TAX increase to the very people that Barry says will not get one.  While he says trickle down does not work, trickle up is what happens when taxes are increased.  Increased fees are what consumers pay because the government fee grab is passed along to those consumers consuming.

Barry should lose this election based on this video alone.

Beside the fact that the government violates the public trust when confiscating individuals property and redistributing it, people are actually voting to acquire the wealth of others.  Rather than emulate the successful citizen, liberals make the successful out to be all but criminal and the rest of us victims.  Sadly, the envy fostered among many prevents them from ever realizing the truth or their potential.  But hey, it keeps ‘em voting democrat.

If any of the exchange had actually been shown, then maybe.  It looks like the entire conversation between Obama and the Dude was videotaped, yet, instead of actually hearing Obama’s response, we hear the Dude again.  What is Fox News so afraid of?

Dannyboy,

Look here. I linked to the story which gives Obama’s lame response.

Aside from DannyBoy who can’t keep his mouth shut even when he’s being ignorant, note the resounding silence from the usual crew of socialib posters on this thread.  Truth and logic kinda hurts, eh?

...note the resounding silence from the usual crew of socialib posters on this thread.

Rob and a couple of others sometimes say that, “you get the most flak when you’re over the target”, but I’ve never really agreed much with that assessment. For example, one also gets a lot of flak when things are stupendously wrong or lied about or insulting.

When things like this are posted, things go silent. We’re over the target.

The fact is the government can’t “spread the wealth around.” All the government can do is spread the poverty around.

I haven’t read the posts in question but I think that a successful economy increases aggregate wealth and everybody who contributes to economic success is rewarded appropriately. There seems to be a sense among many in the American middle class that they’ve been working longer in order to stay roughly where they are. If I was a member of the American middle class, I’d want my fair share of the economic booty and if that’s what Obama is promising then he’d probably get my vote.

Mike A,
Check out the post above and the link. Is it correct to conclude that you feel freedom in the market results in unfair compensation, in other words a free market is an unfair market?

What you don’t know is this “plumber” is misrepresenting himself as a regular small business owner.  I have found a picture of him before he shaved his mustache:

...the economic booty…

?????

Do you mean earnings?  Shouldn’t they go to those who earn them?  You create a false concept(common to Marxism) that any earnings that accrue from management or capital are somehow illegitimate, and are stolen from the workers.
That’s just one of Marx’s huge errors.

The reality is that Obama’s black liberation theology teaches blacks to “avoid middleclassness”.  And yet, he is posing as a savior of the middle class in this country.  In truth, he wants to eliminate the middle class, and turn it into another dependent class(the proletariat).  He’s just lying, again.

R108,

It seems that for all his socialist tendencies the electorate is giving him a pass.  It’s as if they think he’s too nice a guy to have any sinister socialist motives.  I tend to agree, but that doesn’t make him any less threatening to individual liberty, it just makes him an extremely useful idiot.

HG: I think that since the fall of the Soviets, the American people are under the false impression that the threat of communism is over.  Part of this propaganda effort by the lefties is blaming “Wall Street” for the economic crisis, along with our free enterprise system.  They have taken over the schools and the news media, and are able to suppress any diverse opinions.

The dude is a businessman. Businessmen hate paying taxes more than they hate paying their workers a living wage. Anything that cuts into his profits would be considered “socialist”. No surprise here.

ollie-B on October 15, 2008 at 06:31 pm

Businessmen hate paying taxes more than they
hate paying their workers a living wage.

Wrong!  Businessmen hate paying taxes to a greedy govt that gives them nothing in return.  They pay their employees what the job is worth, minus the greedy govt overhead of healthcare, workers comp, SS and withholding, all of which cost them money.  They are unpaid tax collectors, especially if they also have to pay sales taxes.
If an employee doesn’t like the wages, he or she is free to seek a better job elsewhere, or maybe get the education and training that would enable them to get a better paying job.  Or, they could exhibit a little ambition, and go into business for themselves.  It’s called upward mobility.

Most small business people I am talking to, including me, are talking about disolving our businesses. A good many are telling me that they will go to a cash only business. Keep the $$ in the backyard. I am getting slammed with people calling me and telling me they can’t pay their accounts now, should be really great soon. I am closing one of my outlets this week, having to put 3 people out of wrk.

Ohio has several prime examples of what Barri wants to do, and people have been moving out of them since the 1970s.

If you really believe this nonsense, I suggest you refrain from voting in any elections anymore. You obviously do not have the intelligence to make an informed decision. R U an adult or just playing one in real life?

I am so tired of hearing how the wealthy few got that way because of hard work, many have inherited large fortunes and grew up without a need for anything material.
Do you really think that hard work by itself is the current answer?
If it is truly the path to wealth in our current society, I and many of my associates should be rolling in it. Unfortunately greed and deception seem like the more likely path to those ends currently, who you know doesnt seem to hurt anything either.
My job as an IT support person gives me an inside view into many of the wealthier members of our societies lives, I am consistently in awe of just how clueless many of them are. No sense of where this Country has been and absolutely no regard for where it is going. Its a real shame to meet people who have come from some of our Nations finest educational institutions with nothing more than a piece of paper and a feeling of entitlement. All for one and one for one is no way to build a society, the true path to success is achieved by helping those around you to succeed first, and that will ultimately ensure your own success, this I believe should be the true definition of trickle down economics.
It frightens me to hear the less educated, less driven members of our society hawking the lies that are fed to them, believing themselves to be modern day John Waynes. Its ironic to me when I think that John Wayne, would probably be the first to take a do over regarding the outcome of his life.
Businesses shouldnt have to be forced to share their wealth with those who have shared there paths to the wealth, but that currently seems to be the only real viable outcome, I propose that if a corporation/company profits 10% in a year, each of there employees should profit the same.

To make laws requiring that is Marxist Socialism, as you well know. That is why you are calling for it, so as to steal other people’s money for yourself.

The rest of your post is laughable bullshit. Especially concerning John Wayne. The man died with few regrets, chief among them being that he played Genghis Khan.

Two: Marx didn’t believe in return to capital, although the reality is that capital produces much more wealth than labor.  Without capital, all labor would be subsistence labor, and economic growth would not exist, along with upward mobility.  Back to the two level society, with the ruling elite and the peasants(or “the proletariat”, as Marx would say).

In what this whiny knucklehead is proposing there is no return to capital. At the start there would be, the outflow of all profits to the “employees” would rapidly soak up all monies coming in, so there would be nothing to advance the actual business. Nothing to pay utilities, purchase/maintain equipment and materials, or invest in anything that would bring a secondary flow of currency into the business. No innovation or entrepreneurship. No community outreach, little league and soccer teams, youth groups or litter pickup projects. A slow slide into misery.

In a nutshell, Marxist Socialism.
