Photos: Heitkamp Plays Softball With Fellow Washington Insiders

A reader emails in these pictures of North Dakota Senator Heidi Heitkamp participating in the Congress vs. media softball game last week. “Looks like she’s more interested in hanging with the Washington gals than standing up to Harry Reid on things such as the do-nothing Senate’s inaction on student loan hikes,” he writes, tongue-in-cheek (I think).

Earlier this month Senator Heitkamp was seen practicing for this came here in North Dakota:

KXNet – Bismarck/Minot/Williston/Dickinson

One of the best-known ads from Senator Heitkamp’s award-winning 2012 campaign showed her taking batting practice. I guess she wanted to show her Washington DC friends that the commercial wasn’t a work of film-making artifice.

No word on her batting average or slugging percentage.

It was a charity game for Breast Cancer, get over you HDS.

    • custergirl

Why raise money for breast cancer when the cure has been available and known by both big pharma and the govt since 1974? Seems like a wast of time and money doesn’t it?

      • guest

        what is the cure?

    • http://sayanythingblog.com Rob

      I don’t think I wrote anything critical.

Maybe i’m not the one with the derangement syndrome.

      • Guest

Give me a break, if that’s the case why did you even comment about it. The wording Washington insiders was subbed for media, and simply using softball rather than charity game was showing it is recreation on tax payer dollars. You know the whole way you reported it was framed and had plenty of hidden message behind it in what was inserted and what was left out, especially that it was a charity event. Just another example of how dishonest the commenting in this blog is.

        • http://sayanythingblog.com Rob

I posted it because we’re coming up on a weekend and news was kind of scarce. Heitkamp made a big deal about softball during the campaign, somebody emailed me the pictures so I posted describing it accurately as a softball game full of washington insiders.

  • Dakotacyr

Oh and she batted .500. Not too bad. Any other dumbass questions?

    • custergirl

I’ll ask again dumbass. Why raise money for a completely phony cause dumbass?

    • http://sayanythingblog.com Rob

Wow, you’ve gone off the deep end over a 100% non-critical post.

      • Dakotacyr

really, you wrote a post quoting a reader’s negative comments and this is not a negative post from you? Really? I dunno, I’d say this is negative. and it is HDS.

        • http://sayanythingblog.com Rob

Yeah, I quoted what somebody else said, and then noted that I was pretty sure he was saying it tongue-in-cheek.

Seriously. Calm down. It’s a couple of photos.

          • Dakotacyr

Nothing to do with the photos and you know it. You claimed the post wasn’t critical and it was. You posted it, you wrote the post. And apparently, in your mind tongue in cheek isn’t critical when you know full well it is and was meant to be.
you should just admit your HDS and get help for it.

          • http://sayanythingblog.com Rob

I literally wrote nothing critical of Senator Heitkamp in this post.

I quoted a bit of sarcasm from the guy who sent the email.

            Seriously. Calm down.

  • Mike Peterson

This piece is a little unfair, in my opinion. Ron Paul, who participated in all the Congressional baseball/softball games, said that the events were perhaps the most productive thing Congress ever does. In fact, if Congress only played baseball and never made any laws, I would be OK with that.

    • http://sayanythingblog.com Rob

I wasn’t being critical. Nothing in the post is critical. Someone sent me the pictures, i thought I’d share.

      • Dakotacyr

        Huh??? you posted this:

“A reader emails in these pictures of North Dakota Senator Heidi Heitkamp participating in the Congress vs. media softball game last week. “Looks like she’s more interested in hanging with the Washington gals than standing up to Harry Reid on things such as the do-nothing Senate’s inaction on student loan hikes,” he writes, tongue-in-cheek (I think).”
        And it wasn’t critical? Right.

        • http://sayanythingblog.com Rob

          He was joking. Wow.

          Thin skinned much?

I now Gabbie Giffords being in town puts you Democrats in a tough position, but you don’t have to take it out on me.

          • Dakotacyr

I think it is fantastic that she is in Fargo, and will heading down to see her, wearing my proud to be a democrat tee shirt. See you there.

          • http://sayanythingblog.com Rob

You know who won’t be there?

            Heidi Heitkamp.

          • insulted

Say hi to all the 6 or 7 for me that show up to support this propaganda freak (I’m excluding those who were paid to be there).

          • http://sayanythingblog.com Rob

About 75 – 100 showed up in Fargo.

  • Captjohn

I agree with Peterson let them play ball. They do it a lot cheaper then the pampered pros and it keeps them busy outside of the Capitol.

    • http://sayanythingblog.com Rob

Again, nothing in the post is critical.

      • Dakotacyr

        Thou dost protest too much!

        • http://sayanythingblog.com Rob

Says the person who had comment section freak out over a perfectly innocuous post.

          • Dakotacyr

even your title of the blog post is critical. You could had a headline like this: Heitkamp plays softball for charity, but no…even that was critical because we know what is meant by “washington insiders” as do you.

          • http://sayanythingblog.com Rob

She was literally playing softball with Washington insiders.

            i’m sorry for being accurate.

I love all the people freaking out about this below. There’s a ton of photos of both the womens game vs. the media and the mens game between the parties all over the interwebs. People need to calm down.

    • http://sayanythingblog.com Rob

      No kidding.
