Petraeus: If A New President Forces Withdrawal From Iraq I’ll Quit

Powerful words from a well-respected military authority.

BILL WEIR: You serve at the pleasure of the president. If our new president, a year from now, says general, I want out of here in a year. What do you say? Is that even feasible?

DAVID PETRAEUS: Well I think you have to look at what the conditions on the ground are at that time, obviously, and then offer your best professional military advice. And we always have the option of allowing them to pick someone else for his or her best professional military advice. As I told congress back in the confirmation process in January of 2007, that if at any time someone wanted someone else’s best professional military advice, I’d be happy to allow that to happen. I am also coming up on three-and-a-half years in Iraq on top of a year in Bosnia, so my family would be, would not be disappointed I don’t think if, you know, Dad were to come home --

WEIR: Sure.

PETRAEUS: For awhile.

Hey Democrats, remember that “listen to the generals” stuff?  Now would be a good time to start.

That was great. I agree if they don’t like the job he is doing, fine. I think his record speaks for itself.

I actually think the Dems would love to get Petraeus out of Iraq.  All the better to foment defeat there.

The dems want nothing more than to retreat in Iraq.
It would be a critical mistake if they were sucessful in doing that.

Hey Democrats, remember that “listen to the generals” stuff?

Ya mean like General Shinseki?

Granted we’re a long way from November.  Still, the way things have been going lately it will take a good deal more than a presidential election for the Left to get rid of Gen. David Petraeus.

Florida (how delicious the irony!) is a self-inflicted wound that continues to fester.  The lawsuits that are sure to follow will be epic.  Hillary, who appears to have locked her disreputable husband in a closet, still has more people who’d vote against her than for her, while Obama can’t manage to distance himself from his 20 year pastor and spiritual advisor who preaches “God Damn America!” nor can he manage to offer anything substantive in terms of policy

Whoever came up with the idea of putting Howard Dean at the head of the DNC should be taken out and shot.

Good riddance! Must be pretty vain to think that we actually need him!
