Pelosi: Every Part Of Our Lives Must Be “Subjected To An Inventory” To Fight Global Warming

I keep saying it over and over again. The proponents of big government love global warming hysteria because it gives the justification to regulate every single aspect of our lives. Pelosi says as much while visiting China:

In answering a question from a student about how Pelosi was going to get Americans to cut back on their carbon emissions, the leading Democratic lawmaker said it was important to educate children on how to conserve energy and for citizens to build more environmentally friendly homes.
“We have so much room for improvement,” she said. “Every aspect of our lives must be subjected to an inventory … of how we are taking responsibility.”

And who do you think is going to be doing the inventory? Obviously this whole “freedom” thing isn’t working out, since we’re driving hummers and running the air conditioning with the doors open and what not, so I guess some bureaucrat is going to have to inventory our lives for us. The federal government is already regulating everything from what cars we can drive to what light bulbs we use, so why not more?
Given that, this statement in the article was rather ironic:

Pelosi’s trip has been notable for skirting human rights and the fierce public criticisms she has frequently leveled at the authoritarian government.

I don’t think Nancy Pelosi has any room to lecture about “authoritarian government.”

Pelosi responds that it’s important for parents to educate their children on global issues and encourage them to make decisions that are environmentally-friendly. Everyone applauds to this standard answer to a standard question.

The point is Todd, what the hell is Pelosi doing during a recession talking about cutting carbon emmisions in our own country while wasting tons of carbon flying to China in her private jet? What a sucker you lib dems are! The chinese are laughing at us since they have no intention of cutting emissions because they know all of our manufacturing in the U.S. will be dead when the mentally challenged congress passes cap and trade. Anyone that works for a manufacturer will be out of a job and expect your heating/cooling costs to triple if not more.

A while back, a great leader also had the same sorts of sense of the civic responsibility of citizens. He stated that a nation is only as strong as its people, who need to do their part to contribute. He also setup some basic rules for civic responsibility that sound like a great idea:

Every citizen should respect other people.
Every citizen should think for themselves.
Every citizen should obey the law.

And under the pretense of good government, by the people and for the people, he gained a great deal of power in his nation by using the pride of his citizens to get everybody to do their best for their country.

I’m not going to say that Nancy Pelosi is comparable to Hitler, or even that she has some sort of Communist or Socialist agenda that she’s using to slowly marginalize US citizens into robots that will be forced to be healthy, ‘green’ and pay 50% of their income as taxes/fees/fines/licenses/permits. I’ve listened to Nancy speak, and frankly I don’t think she’s intelligent enough to know what she’s actually doing, or what she really means by even her own statements, contrary to Hitler.

As an example, Hitler banned public smoking as it damaged the lungs citizens, which would reduce their ability to contribute to the country. That almost sounds familiar, albeit under a different auspice. Is it bad for the country if the inventory of a citizen shows they smoke, eat too much, use too much energy or don’t recycle? Is this what Nancy means?

I guess that depends what kind of country you live in, Nazi Germany, modern China or future America.

The difference between your example people is that Pat or Miss California have no legal control over our lives. The speaker of the house can pass more laws requiring or making a law forcing behavior at the point of a gun.
