Pelosi Calls Republicans “Unpatriotic”

Over the years of debating the war in Iraq Democrats were adamant about one thing: They were (and aren’t) unpatriotic for opposing the war. That dissent was the highest form of patriotism. But now Nancy Pelosi is calling Republicans unpatriotic for not bowing to Democrat wishes on finance industry bailouts.


Pelosi’s comments will undoubtedly raise the ire of some Republicans, but I’m willing to bet they don’t get much media attention.
But you can bet that if a Republican called Democrats unpatriotic CNN would be scrambling to run an expose on the coarsening of political speech in America, and the right’s attempts to “chill” free speech rights.
Meanwhile, in Missouri, Obama has recruited prosecutors to threaten legal action against anyone criticizing The One in a manner they find unacceptable.

    So it’s “patriotic” to do everything to help your country lose a war.

    But it’s “unpatriotic” to oppose a big government course of action.

    Now sit back and watch as these big government endorsers call us “divisive” and blame Bush for the loss of “national unity”.

    I didn’t think the Republicans had been Invited to the table early in the week. BUT regardless, it was critical for someone to oppose some of the more onerous aspects of the Barney Frank, Chris Dodd proposal. How can these clowns have any credibility in this matter, given their complicity in the problem???

    Poof will hide behind nuance when it comes to saving his ass but there simply is no logic to call Obama’s ideas surrender when he makes the request to increase the numbers of those serving our country and to request an increase of troops and military activity in Afghanistan and Pakistan where the enemy is planning to attack us.

    The simple-minded thought process of our political foes on this site isn’t very challenging. The best they can offer is, “no we aren’t”, “no it isn’t” and that is about it. The can not build a rational and logical argument.

    Nah! I’ll hide behind John Freaking Kerry, in his defense of Obama as recently as…yesterday:

    This was the wrong war at the wrong place at the wrong time!

    If your ADD wasn’t so great, you might recall Obama, at least among his nutroot constituencies, calling for the withdrawal of troops from Iraq and his lame-assed assertions that the surge would not only not work, but would make things worse.

    Obama, had he been President, would have ceded the Iraqi conflict to the terrorists from the beginning. He has stated on numerous occasions that he would withdraw troops from Iraq as quickly as he could. When one withdraws one’s troops from the field of conflict, there is a flag more closely associated with that action than any other.

    I challenge both of your brain cells (both the one that works and the other one) to try to figure out which flag that is. Extra points if you can pick it out of a lineup!

    It is one thing to go mucking about across the borders of one’s allies and it is quite another thing to announce it publicly for the sake of scoring political points!

    That is just STUPID, STUPID, STUPID! Haven’t you ever heard of plausible deniability?

    There are operations that can be conducted overtly and some that can be done clandestinely, but you don’t shoot off your big flapping gums about how you’re going to cross your ally’s borders and do what might be destabilizing to their government!     Here’s a thought, dhimmiboy! See if you can make room for it in your head without knocking your only other thought out!

    The white flag means “surrender“, as in “Cut and run”. Obama, who presumably loves his country, advocated a cut and run position in Iraq. (Trolls please note for clarification: Iraq is NOTpart of the United States!) Therefore, it is possible and entirely likely that a person can love his country and yet advocate careless stupid and naïve positions about our military abroad.

    Or is it your position, dhimmiboy, that one cannot advocate for surrender abroad and still love their country?
    That’s not what we’re saying, but then, you surely know your fellow travelers far better than we!
