Earlier this week I posted that Paul Sorum, who had challenged Jack Dalrymple for the NDGOP nomination for governor at the party’s March convention, was gathering signatures to run on the general election ballot as an independent.
Today, though, Sorum called me and said that after more reflection he’s pulling out because he doesn’t “want to do more harm than good.”
“I talked to people I respect, and they understood by thinking, but at the end of the day they just weren’t sure it would be useful,” he told me.
Sorum said that there are still people collecting signatures to put him on the ballot, but that he’s told them he won’t run. ”If they want to go get signatures, it’s a free country,” he told me.
