Palin Smashing Leftie Blogger Learns A Hard Lesson: Don’t Cross Swords With Dan Riehl
It started off simply enough.
The usual unsubstantiated Palin smashing rumors came from the left, this time that she was divorcing, began circulating and, of course, quickly went viral throught the left’s blogs. Anything, any chance, any way to hit Palin is their unofficial, unspoken motto and verifying anything that comes down their nasty little sewer pipe of gossip before spewing it to the world isn’t exactly high on their list of things to do. Verification? We don’t need no steenking verification!
One has to wonder, though, just where this stuff starts and who’s behind it. Who makes up this stuff? Well, this time someone did in fact look into it and it looks like they have the rumor monger who started this latest smear on the run but good.
Dan Riehl, who has the blog the Riehl World View started digging, and digging hard. I’m a daily reader of his blog – a very well written and informative site – and I have to tell you, I was impressed as I watched this unfold.
Working in conjunction with co-blogger and ally Stacy McCain, who has the blog The Other McCain,, Dan began to turn over rocks with the persistence of a hungry badger, working day and night researching the source of the rumors and, lo and behold, he found something slimy under one of those rocks.
It turns out that the author of the latest rumors (basing his entire smear on a “source”) is one Jesse Griffin, a now former kindergarten teacher in Alaska who maintains a very nasty little website called “The Immoral Minority”. I won’t link to it but you can find a link at either Dan Riehl’s site or at The Other McCain.
There is no point in me rehashing the whole tale of how, after being being found and contacted, this fool was smug enough to tell Dan to basically bug off and then threaten him with legal action if he persisted. Oops. Wrong move. Both Riehl and McCain aren’t just guys with keyboards and too much time on their hands. They have long involvements in Washington politics and have worn big boy shoes in their careers.
A hissing leftie blogger didn’t intimidate them a bit, as Jesse Griffin has now discovered.
Anyway, click over to Dan’s site or Stacy McCain’s and check out the whole story from start to finish. I’m impressed with the dogged determination displayed by these two in their goal to, for once, expose one of Palin’s smear merchants. And expose they did.
Salutes to Dan Riehl and Stacy McCain. Great job, guys. There needs to be more work done like this and maybe some of the smearing will slow up a bit. It’ll never stop, but those who smear without facts behind them may take just a bit of pause before doing so. Oh, and remind me to never make you guys mad.
