Palin Refuses To Classify Abortion Clinic Bombers As Terrorists?
That’s what they’re saying at Firedoglake, but I’m not so sure that’s an accurate characterization of her comments.
First, let me be clear: Abortion clinic bombers are terrorists. They’re in the same category as William Ayers is, and if McCain and/or Palin had the same sort of relationship with an abortion clinic bomber as Obama has with Ayers they’d have been so buried by media outrage they wouldn’t even be campaigning still right now.
Here’s the exchange between Palin and Brian Williams which is causing all the controversy:

Brian Williams: I’m just asking what other categories you would put in there. Abortion clinic bombers? Protesters in cities where fires were started, Molotov cocktails, were thrown? People died.
Sarah Palin: I would put in that category of Bill Ayers anyone else who would seek to destroy our United States Capitol and our Pentagon and would seek to destroy innocent Americans.
Sounds to me like Palin’s comment there about people who would “seek to destroy innocent Americans” covers abortion clinic bombers.
This is a non-story, but much as with how much was spent on Palin’s wardrobe it’ll make headlines. Because it’s something they can twist into a negative story about McCain/Palin.
