Osama Bin Laden Wants To Beat Us Like We Were Beaten In Somalia

And Jack Murtha would like to help.

Here is Rep. John "Old Cut And Run" Murtha speaking about pulling out of Iraq on CNN's Situation Room this month:

The thing that disturbed me and worries me about this whole thing is we can't get them to change direction. And I said over and over in debate, if you listen to any of it, in Beirut President Reagan changed direction, in Somalia President Clinton changed direction, and yet here, with the troops out there every day, suffering from these explosive devices, and being looked at as occupiers — 80 percent of the people want us out of there — and yet they continue to say, "We're fighting this thing." We're not fighting this. The troops are fighting this thing. That's who's doing the fighting.

Osama bin Laden, speaking on a just-released audio tape:

We will continue — God willing — to fight you and your allies everywhere in Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia and Sudan until we deplete your resources, kill your men and (force you) to return defeated to your lands as we have defeated you before — God willing — in Somalia.

Got that? Jack Murtha considers Clinton's cut-and-run from Somalia to be sound foreign policy worth repeating.

Osama bin Laden considers it a victory for his side. The sort of thing that might embolden one to, I don't know, crash some jets into buildings filled with innocent civilians.

Following Jack Murtha's advice would simply have us playing into the hands of the enemy. It is dangerous and foolish and should be avoided. If you don't believe me, just listen to our enemies.

Rob,

If it walks like the enemy, talks like the enemy, and proposes what the enemy considers to be a victory, I’d say there’s a strong case to be made that it is an enemy.

in Beirut President Reagan changed direction

That should be highlighted as well.

The US had a history of running from terrorism overseas before 2001. We had a more isolationist view.  Now it’s all different.

Spagnum,

What is not mentioned and is seldom told is that while we did indeed withdraw the Marines from Beirut, we got our own back before leaving.

A Syrian artillery regiment and the ridge it was emplaced on were explosively redistributed (16” rounds, serveral 9 round salvoes).  Hizbollah also suffered a sudden vriulent and wide sperad outbreak of high velocity lead poisoning which may or may not have anything to do with the SEAL teams going ashore loaded for bear and returning Winchester.

"change direction"= cut and run = surrender

Some of us have been referencing OBL on this since the Dem surrender monkeys first started shooting off their mouths months ago.  It’s the only way we can lose in the Middle East - show weakness.
