Oprah Won’t Have Palin On Her Show, Afraid It Will Hurt The One’s Campaign

Oprah won’t be putting Sarah Palin – right now the nation’s most popular politician – on her show. Because she’s afraid it might hurt The One’s campaign.

“Half of her staff really wants Sarah Palin on,” an insider explains. “Oprah’s website is getting tons of requests to put her on, but Oprah and a couple of her top people are adamantly against it because of Obama.”
One executive close to Winfrey is warning any Palin ban could ignite a dramatic backlash!

You’d think Oprah would want Palin on the show. After all, Palin could very well be the nation’s first female Vice President and is currently the darling of most Americans. Oprah is a show with a heavy female demographic. In fact, I thought Oprah and her show was all about empowering women. So it’s a natural, no?
If I were a liberal I’d probably be screaming about the fairness doctrine. And indeed, given that Oprah’s show airs on NBC which in turn is broadcast in communities across the nation, the fairness doctrine might even be made to apply.
But I am not a liberal, I love free speech, and I feel that Oprah should be able to do with her show whatever she wants.
That, however, won’t stop me from chuckling about yet another entertainment industry liberal so thoroughly in the bag for Obama that they won’t even consider talking to a Republican.
Update: Oprah responds:

OPRAH’S STATEMENT: “The item in today’s Drudge Report is categorically untrue. There has been absolutely no discussion about having Sarah Palin on my show. At the beginning of this Presidential campaign when I decided that I was going to take my first public stance in support of a candidate, I made the decision not to use my show as a platform for any of the candidates. I agree that Sarah Palin would be a fantastic interview, and I would love to have her on after the campaign is over.”

She wont use her show as a platform for any candidate? That’s baloney. She had Obama on her show. Is she suggesting that his appearance on her show (in conjunction of her personal endorsement of him) didn’t help his campaign?

Oprah must think we’re stupid.

my guess is there might be a few places that only put on Grandpa and Mrs. Alaska….and of course it “is” Oprah’s show…

The movie in LLLVIS’s Avatar is Bubba Ho Tep.

It’s on IFC once in a while.

    I watch it every time.

    Great Flick.

“imagine” – The country does not want Bush 3.0

Egh. You said the same thing in 2004.

You’re a broken record blowhard who never explains the slanders you spew.

Now run away like you always do, blowhard.

She sees white people. They’re everywhere!

My favorite is that the republicans think they are the only ones that can get us out of the mess that the republicans created… what is that definition of insanity? doing the exact same thing over and over and expecting a different outcome….

Could you imagine the mess we would be in now had democrats had their way the past 8 years?

Look what they’ve done since they got control of both houses.

The republicans may have lost their way to some degree, but the dems don’t even know, nor have they ever known, the way.

  • RebTex

She has endorsed Obama, but she has not had him on her show since he announced his candidacy.

    Really?
It’s been a nearly 4 year campaign for obama.
He started it with his speech at the last DemCon.
Aside from that, it’s well reported that his campaign has been running for over 17 months.
When okra stood on a political stage with obama, she endorsed him & lent her brand mark to him.
So, yes, Victoria, she HAS had him on during his campaign.

Would you care to be more specific about the “mess” you’re talking about and what specific GOP policies created it? I suspect you haven’t any idea what you’re talking about and are instead just mouthing talking points to pass the time. Wanna try and prove me wrong?

  • Texan Across the Pond

Every time you see a picture of Oprah her mouth is open, really. I was told this several years ago and by God its true! I also swear she is lighter in color than her “Color Purple” days.

I think this conversation is interesting esp. the lack of facts coming from non Oprah watchers. First, Oprah did not have a presidential candidate on her show. She had Obama on her show before he announced his candidacy and his purpose on the show was to promote his book. She asked him if he would consider running and he said it wasn’t in his plan but you never know. Bias was a great thing to site here, because this article is not only full of a bias view, but it is grossly inaccurate. Further more, her ratings may have declined, but not enough to stop her. Extreme republicans will not affect her, her show, nor her lifestyle. I will attribute all of this griping to individuals that want to see Palin on as much TV as possible. I wish she would appear more, because I’m interested in hearing her plan of action, she didn’t say ANYTHING at the RNC so I want her to be given more opportunities to lay out her and McCain’s plans for action and change.

    UPDATE:

Heh, it’s already hit my local news station, and their reaction is pretty staunchly behind giving Palin a chance on the show.

I don’t think we liberals are scared that you are going to vote for Palin. It is exactly as the right always does. Lockstep with whoever gets tossed up, no matter what. I would expect no less.

When you think of the possibility of Palin as president, doesn’t your soul die a little bit?

You can do all kinds of shit on TV if you aren’t campaigning.

“Shit” is the operative word with Obama; true that. Because he is campaigning on his personality, looks and blackness, Obama is campaigning whenever he’s on TV. Nice try, though.

  • LLLVIS

If nothing else, it shows fear. In this case, I think that’s a good thing!

  • DBO

LOL AFTER the election. How kind. As long as it doesn’t threaten The One‘s chances of getting elected, then it’s ok. Funny stuff.

I am A-OK with Oprah not having Palin on her show. I just don’t want to hear any whining about the consequences. (A la Dixie Chicks complaining)

  • RebTex

Why is it that nearly every pic of obama’s baby momma shows a scowl across her grill?

  • Lestat

    Another stellar job of research.

She has endorsed Obama, but she has not had him on her show since he announced his candidacy.

  • sayanything-4625

What is even funnier is that several lefty sites I visited today said that Sarah would be “sheltered” to “protect” her from answering “hard questions”. Now I ask you, who is “protecting” who in this situation? Maybe they just don’t want to hear the answers to those “hard questions”.

  • docdave

Another example of the liberal hypocracy. They want conservative talk shows to present both sides whereas they want to limit their presentations to the leftie side.

  • robert108

In a statement, Oprah now says she’d be glad to have Palin on the show after the election.

I guess she saw what happened to Us Magazine…I wonder if the lefties will start calling her “flipper”, now?

  • richNJ

I agree that it is her show and she is allowed to bring on the guests that she wants. I do not have a problem with that. The problem will come when her fan base goes down and her viewer ship declines. Then it will be a right wing conspiracy to attack her because the right does not believe in free speech. Which will be a typical reaction by the small minded dem’s. They can say whatever they wish but if someone reacts to it and practices their right of free speech they are aghast.

I wonder if Palin was a black woman would okra have a different idea?

Did she ever have our secretary of state on? One of the highest ranking blacks in history?

I’m serious, I don’t know. The day I watch Oprah is the day i’n in traction in the hospital and someone turns it on over my muffled rants.

  • Bill Mitchell

Palin is a force of nature. This will actually help Palin and hurt Oprah. How can Oprah say she is “the voice of women” when she won’t even talk to one of the most popular women on the planet right now?

We win again. If they talk to Sarah we win. If they won’t talk to Sarah, we win.

Yep, and then panic sets in.
I foresee nothing good coming from Obama being elected president

Actually she used to belong to his church but quit it.

Well, to start her own Church, not out of any publicly expressed outrage against Wright at the time that I can recall; but because she wanted her own Oprah brand religion.

This is how lefties try to win: censorship.

I had read (probably here) that she lost viewers for her treatment of Hillary. This is going to hurt her even more.
