Only In North Dakota…

...would I get in trouble with my wife because we are apparently moving to Alaska where I’m going to become a hunting guide, which is a rumor her mother heard from a relative who heard it from a friend of a friend in southeastern North Dakota.

How’s that for a gossip grape vine?

Note to those of you who are invoking the wrath of my wife by misinforming my mother-in-law: It was an April Fool’s joke.  So chill out.  I’m not going anywhere.

I’ll be posting here - and irritating North Dakota’s scant liberal minority (to the point where some of them make every other one of their blog postings about me) - for years to come.

But I guess it is cool that my North Dakota readership has grown to the point where silly little jokes cause a buzz that reaches halfway across the state.  And sort of scary that there’s only a few degrees of separation but some of you weirdos who read this site and my family.

Update: I meant the “weirdos” remark in the best possible way.

No Alaskan oil dividend checks for you, then!

Yes, very sad.

Actually, I quite like North Dakota.  There was a time when I really wanted to move back to Alaska, but I’ve put down roots here.

Plus, Alaska is filling up with nutty enviro-libs.  You even have to fill out paperwork, show ID and put your name in a database to by ammunition up there these days (or so I’m told).

That’s not for me.

Are you the one who started the rumor mill, RMOG?

Must be the nutjob governor/girlfriend of Robs.  She only turned out that way because of Rob.

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.

That’s not funny, Hal, that’s mean.

Whistler, the Governor of Alaska isn’t my girlfriend.  I just showered with her one time.

Maybe it was more than once...it was a long time ago.

It’s not really nice to tell your wife about your other girlfriends.

Of course in my case that was pretty easy not to.
