One Note On Scott McClellan’s New Book

There’s a lot of buzz about former White House Press Secretary Scott McClellan new book which essentially calls most of the people he used to work with in the Bush administration a bunch of incompetent lying liars. Here’s one question I have for McClellan:
If the Bush administration was this bad, why didn’t you do the honorable thing at that time and speak up? Why wait until you’ve got a big, fat book deal before you start talking?
Could it be because McClellan’s claim are overwrought and sensationalized for the purpose of selling books?
I think that’s probably likely.

Shorter Scott McClellan: “I was too stupid to know I was being lied to, but clever enough to cash in on those lies.”

At first blush it doesn’t gel very well.

I think it would be interesting to read his book, but I decline to spend my money on it.

  • WhatTha?

Scott McClellan comes from a long-line of whackjobs. His momma was a 3rd party candidate for governor of Texas in ’06 and his daddy wrote a conspiracy book about a link between JFK’s assasination and LBJ’s authorization of it!

It was just a matter of time before this nut rolled closer to the tree that he fell from.

Look, this guy was so ineffective at the job there wasn’t a week I didn’t wonder why he was still there.

I agree, he was a terrible liar.

I agree, he was a terrible liar.

Hell, the guy couldn’t even tell the truth without flop sweat.

    overcompensatingelinas,

were that the case, there’d be a large batch of SayAnythingSinister casualties.

I’d like to compare the book to the Politico article, which may be a very slanted version of what the book actually says.

    Hanging them out to dry

Sounds more like “publicity whore” to me. But again, I’ll wait until I see the book through a bit more neutral filter.

I love how one side will forget all the nasty stuff they said about a guy when he comes out and disagrees with the administration he was a part of. From devil to angel….

Before this is over, it will be known that this was a political game of lies and propaganda played by Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld even though Bush has been mostly the dupe.

Of course you have ‘facts’ to back up this assertion, don’t you? You don’t? Why does that not surprise me. You lefties are so pathetic living in your Bush hating fantasy not know that you are the real dupes.

Look, this guy was so ineffective at the job there wasn’t a week I didn’t wonder why he was still there.

He did the President and the country a disservice by staying in the job and now he is cashing in before the clock runs out.

Had he been anything but a frustrated whining bitch the administrations message might have gotten past the media — oh who am I kidding, the media has had over 7 years to pummel the Republicans BUT during McClellan’s term it seems as if the administration wasn’t even trying.

Yep! Yes sir!!!! Never fails with you guys. Shoot the messenger. Shoot the bastard dead. How dare this spineless traitor do such a thing.

We’ve developed a political culture now let allows a person to make any statement, as long as it espouses a liberal view, and be applauded for it. Note Hillary’s statement that “every poll, in every state, in the entire world” shows she is the strongest candidate. The MSM doesn’t mock her or even forcefully disagree. Obie doesn’t know how many states there are, or which town he’s in when he see’s dead people. So the consensus is “show me the money and I’ll make your day.

  • andydakota

right, only insofar as you question why he didn’t speak up sooner or resign. That question should be asked of many White House officials from him to Colin Powell.

  • MikeAdamson

I don’t have much sympathy for a guy who walked the party line while on the job then points fingers when it’s too late to impact anything but his bank account.

    Shameful IMO.

Probably because he is no more honorable than the rest of them.

You get afraid for your job and your career and envision your life being destroyed so, you go along. That’s what Tenet did, too, only to be offered up as a sacrificial lamb in the end.

After it’s over, you look back, feel guilty, and wish you had done this and wish you had done that so that things would have been better. They always waited until Powell was gone to make their big plays.

Before this is over, it will be known that this was a political game of lies and propaganda played by Bush, Cheney, and Rumsfeld even though Bush has been mostly the dupe.

Doc Dave tells us how warm and cozy it is inside his Conservative cocoon. Now what am I to do? How will the reality I live in ever be the same?

Of course, Doc Dave was all in an uproar when all the SAB audience was happy to conclude the guy who financed Air America was guilty before his day in court and all….but, I am just sayin.

  • Hannitized

    Bad timing for McCain too!

  • Hannitized

Although this incredible situation has become commonplace to our friends who life in happy-land, they will dismiss this reality as something other than setting the record straight.

As I have always thought, people are generally good inside. It takes a certain type of creep to be dishonest on a daily basis and not let your conscience catch up.

I think this is why you see people like Powell, and virtually every other former ex Bush insider come clean. They just want to sleep well at night.

How do you do it Rob?

  • Hannitized

And this is like the 15th Bush admin schlackey to turn on the administration right?

Gee, I wonder who the common denominator is between all of these accusations and the lies? Couldn’t be BUSCHCO, could it?

  • http://steelturman.typepad.com/thesteeldeal/ Steel

I smell a very partisan editor and/or ghost writer and a monumental rewrite coupled with an iron clad contract leaving McClellan helpless.

  • Hannitized

Get ready for a really bad day of reality Denyacans!
