One Full Day Of Congress In 48 Seconds

Harry Reid is keeping the Senate in session so that President Bush can’t make any recess appointments over the Thanksgiving break.  Unfortunately, that means someone has to show up in DC to go through the motions.

I actually think they got more done in that session than they usually do.

Fortunately it’s just another year until the rest of the “permanent republican majority” hits the road, and the Dems can finally get past the obstructionist GOPpers.

Rest of the Republican majority?  Are you not aware that the Democrats already have a majority in both houses?

Or are you expecting every single Republican in DC to be voted out of office, because of that’s true you’re just plain crazy.

actually, it started at 13 seconds and went till 42 seconds, so really, you’re looking at 29 seconds. It’ll take them longer to cash the check for the day, even if they go through the drive through.

dannyboy,
I’d ask you if you complained about how obstructionist the dems were when the Republicans had the House, Senate, and Presidency; but, I know you’ve got to go get ready for gym class.

The “permanent republican majority” is a phrase Field Marshall Rove liked to throw around a few years ago, when he was relevant.

I wish I could tell you that the Dems were obstructionist, but they let the Republicans steamroll the constitution, reduce our military to a shadow of itself, and sacrifice the working class to corporate greed.

Now, back to my quiche.

I wish I could tell you that the Dems were obstructionist,

...but that would require honesty! Can you say “Justice Charles Pickering”?

reduce our military to a shadow of itself,

Can dhimmi say this with a straight face? After the cuts of Carter and Clinton (which truly did reduce our military to a shadow of itself!), Republicans have been rebuilding the military!
Dhimmidanny: If you ever actually leave your Mom’s basement, try speaking to someone in the military, or failing that, someone who actually knows what they are talking about! Maybe they can set you straight?

Reducing the Military

WASHINGTON—Aides to Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld are calling for deep personnel cuts to the Army, Navy, and Air Force in order to pay for new high-tech weaponry and missile defenses that are cornerstones of President Bush’s plan to “transform the military.”
The proposal to reduce manpower—part of a congressionally mandated defense review due next month—calls for the Army to trim as many as 2.8 of its 10 divisions, or about 56,000 troops. The Air Force would lose as many as 16 of its 61 fighter squadrons, according to the plan, and the Navy would drop one or two of its 12 carrier battle groups, defense officials said. Mr. Rumsfeld and top generals of each military service were briefed on the recommendations for the first time yesterday.

Earth to WOOF: Did anything at all happen on September 11th, 2001 that might have changed that calculation?
Or do you ever even think about what you cut and paste?

What happened was the administrations plans went up in smoke .
They would have cut the military , but they were busy, winning then losing two wars.

They were celebrating victory in 2003.
