On The Eve Of The Biggest Election Of His Career John McCain Decides To Make The Case For Amnesty

Because, apparently, he doesn’t really want to win this election.
Just as I went off-air on the Say Anything Show tonight (podcast copy of tonight’s show will be available on the feed) I heard a news update from the McCain campaign that had John making the case for amnesty for illegal immigrants.
He said something about the fact that we don’t have “12 million handcuffs.”
Now, I know that John McCain and most of the conservative base (including me) don’t see eye-to-eye on this issue. May conservatives (not me) have made their peace with that and are going to vote for him anyway. But I have to wonder, why on earth would he bring that issue up on the eve of the election?
I can give him credit for unabashedly sticking to his principles, but from a tactical perspective this is political suicide.

Contrary to Woof’s fantasy, most Americans of hispanic heritage are essentially conservative; they don’t like abortion, and are willing to work for what they get, instead of waiting for a govt handout. It’s the invaders who are the parasites. Most Americans of hispanic heritage don’t like them, either.
Enforcing our immigration laws and ridding our country of the invaders is a winning issue; if McCain really doesn’t follow that, he’s an idiot.

As a Democrat, I stand with John McCain in endorsing the Reconquista! Viva McCain!

    Still no link?

I’ve been to every major news site and haven’t found any mention of this alleged election eve “McCain Makes Case For Amnesty” story.

I guess we should file it with the McCain/Exxon profits story. In the ‘Rob made this shit up’ file.

    Oye Veh!

If he said a thing where is the link?

Is this like your post about McCain saying that he wouldn’t allow Exxon to make excessive profits, you know, the one that the video showed he didn’t say?

I am like Rob, I definately don’t agree w/ him on this issue. I do admire the way he has stood firm in his belief that it is the right thing to do. My best guess why he brought it up tonight? Poll numbers telling him that he needed to remind people of his view on this.

It’s a mystery. When we get to heaven, we’ll find out what happened to Judge Crater, whether there really is a Loch Ness Monster, and what John McCain was thinking.

McCain has always operated under the illusion that he could get the MSM to like him. Fact is, they only like him when he’s trashing his own party. Campaign finance and amnesty for ILLEGAL aliens, for example.
He’s always acted like a big ol’ girl trying to get the media’s approval.
Sarah Palin is the absolute and only reason he’s still remotely in this race.

    WOOF:

No, the stupids lost Hispanic voters.

    Actually, they never had it.

  • WOOFX

    They had 44% in 2004.
    Good bye to all that.

  • WOOFX

why on earth would he bring that issue up on the eve of the election?

The Republican trashing of Hispanics is
    dooming him to second place.

The Republican trashing of Hispanics is
    dooming him to second place.

Because thinking people who come to this country should abide by the law is, obviously, trashing Hispanics..

How very stupid of you, Poodle.
