Oliver Stone To Direct 9/11 Film
This makes me shudder.
NEW YORK – Nearly four years after the collapse of the World Trade Center, Oscar-winning director Oliver Stone will direct a film based on the story of two police officers who were trapped in the rubble on Sept. 11, 2001.
Nicolas Cage, who won a best-actor Oscar for “Leaving Las Vegas,” will star as Port Authority police Sgt. John McLoughlin. McLoughlin and fellow officer William J. Jimeno became trapped during rescue efforts after the collapse of the twin towers.
Paramount Pictures said the movie is expected to be released next year.
“It’s a work of collective passion, a serious meditation on what happened and carries within a compassion that heals,” Stone said in a statement Friday. “It’s an exploration of heroism in our country — but it’s international at the same time in its humanity.”
Right. Because we wouldn’t want to be too inhumane to the international terrorist cabal which planned and executed the attacks on this country. Nor would we want to condemn them too harshly lest we offend terror sympathizers both domestic and foreign. That would be too insensitive.
I’m not one to judge a book by its cover, but I can almost smell the history revision and moral relativism from here.

The story itself is a compelling one, as Kevin from Wizbang pointed out in this post previously. Its just a shame that its going to be told by someone like Oliver Stone.
I woulnd’t want to judge it before any information came out abou the actual movie, but it he’s treading in some sensitive waters for sure…

My guess is that he’ll find some way to portray the 9/11 victims as complicit in their own demise.

Oliver Stones previous films such as Nixon, JFK and Platoon recieved alot of flak from people when they came out, but the fact remains Oliver Stone does not lie in his films. American troops did rape and murder innocent Women and children in Vietnam (and are still in Iraq!) and JFK was not killed by a lone gunman. Watch his films and do some research on the points he brings up, its all true!
As for 9/11, if Stone is going to do a film on it, I hope it WILL be contravercial. If the world has been lied to, which many people suspect it has been, then we need to know. And I believe that Oliver Stone is the man to do it.

Your comment about “planes don’t cause buildings to fall like that, period” was pretty sad too… considering that it took an hour for the buildings to collapse after being struck. And it was the fire not the collision that caused the buildings to collapse. And the fire didn’t melt the supporting beams, the heat just reduced their load bearing capacity to the point where they failed. Engineering 101.
Had the plains not been heavily laden with fuel (for cross-country flights) it is unlikely that the buildings would have collapsed. It was either a coincidence that planes with sufficient fuelant were both flown into the range of floors that ensured a collapse. You can look for conspiracies there if you want (they would probably start in Baghdad).

In his footage you can clearly see that the fatal shot pushes Kennedy back and to the left. It also blew the back, right side of Kennedy’s head off. This could not have happened if Oswald had fired the gun as he was behind the president, a LONG way behind.

I’m not sure that he’s described his movies as “documentaries.” But within the fictional setting of the movie, a filmmaker may use actual events around which he builds a story, and the result can be an authentic work or art or entertainment. Shakespeare used actual people and events in his plays, and doesn’t tell you which are real, but that doesn’t mean his work is less worthwhile.

Anyone who goes back and watches the footage that day can see with their own eyes the towers were being blown up. For those of you who don’t know, hundreds of thousands of cubic feet of concrete turn to dust, crystalized instanly. The towers fell at free fall speeds. No steel building has ever collapsed from fire. Jet fuel does not melt steel. These are facts provable with high school chemistry and physics. Firefighters interviewed that day testified that they heard and saw explosions in the buildings, ie eyewitness testimony. Anyone who understands military protocol knows that protocol was not followed that day. In 2000 there was an exercise at the pentagon involving the scenario of a plane flying into the building, look it up, they actually have pictures of a model plane crashed into a model of the pentagon. Oh by the way, the military and CIA were conducting over a half dozen exercise the morning of 911 involving…you guessed it, hijacked planes flying into buildings. These are facts, check em out. The truth is available if you’re just willing to listen.
