Olbermann On Why He Told Bush To “Shut The Hell Up”

He said it was because they wouldn’t let him tell the President to “Shut the fuck up.”

Olbermann’s original script identified the “cold-blooded killers” as everyone at the Pentagon and in the Bush Cabinet; when a colleague noted that that would include such relative moderates as Colin Powell and Defense Secretary Robert Gates, Olbermann modified the line. Phil Griffin, the senior vice-president in charge of MSNBC (“Phil thinks he’s my boss,” Olbermann says), raised the matter of tone. Why did Olbermann need to end his commentary by telling the President of the United States to “shut the hell up”?
“Because I can’t say, ‘Shut the fuck up,’ that’s why, frankly,” Olbermann responded. The line stayed in.

Classy guy. Note to MSNBC: Sound, objective political analysis typically doesn’t usually include spittle-flecked tirades that stop just short of profanity.
And just think, this is who Tim Russert went out broadcasting with on election nights.
The article compares Olbermann to Edward R. Murrow. As far as I’m concerned, Olbermann wouldn’t have been fit to run Murrow’s teleprompter. Or Russert’s, for that matter.

The adjective that typically comes to my mind regarding Olbermann is smarmy.

Yeah! I read this earlier today. I liked the part where

…his parents thought psychological testing was in order…

    His pathology manifested itself early!

I think they should do that and then they can sell the advertising on the broadcast to pot pipe manufacturers, viagra, living without bathing magazine and other natural advertisers.

I wish Olby would shut the hell up.

The scary thing is that I can see NBC replacing Russert on election coverage withh this tool.

If they should be so foolish, they can watch the ratings tank and soon figure out the reason why.

If Olbermann died of a heart attack at work, would anyone care? Would MSNBC even cover it?

    His tombstone could read STFU&RIP.

Whistler & Mickey: There aren’t too many journalists that I truly despise, but Olbermann is one of them.

He is the Howard Stern ‘shock-jock’ of political commentary and deserves to be flushed down the same toilet with Howie.

I can’t imagine waking up every morning with that outlook on life. He seems so miserable.

“These comments do not reflect the Kieth Olberman that I have known for all these years…”
