Offended?  Call The Hate Hotline

Good grief...

Tuesday, the Boulder City Council will take up the matter of allocating public funding for a "hate hotline," which would give residents an opportunity to report incidents in which Boulderites use tactless language.

"Our concern - and there are many - is that there is no confidentiality, no legal confidentiality," explains Judd Golden, chairman of the Boulder American Civil Liberties Union, which has not yet taken an official position on the hate-line. "So it's potentially chilling if people think they are providing this information in confidence and then that information were provided to the government or the government sought access to it. That would chill free speech."

Golden says the agenda item on the hotline is "extensive" and a "real dilemma" for the ACLU. There are some very "broad standards" laid out in the resolution.

There is, for instance, the policy statement condemning the usual individual or collective acts of racism and bigotry. Great. But it also condemns those who attack "personal beliefs and values."

"Well, for the ACLU, that goes over the line," Golden says. "You can object to free speech just because someone is a Republican or a Democrat."

Contrary to what some may believe, racists and bigots do still have protected free speech rights. We, as Americans, have a Constitutional right to say moronic things if it strikes our fancy. Of course, that means we have to put up with a lot of baloney from mouth-breathing haters, but that's a small price to pay for not having to live in a society where an off-color joke to your neighbor might get you reported to the government.

And how about black people using the “N” word. It does not fro some reason seem to be offensive if they are using it.

Bottom line this is another waste of government time and money.

The fact that Boulder is going to have a hate hotline offends me.  Where do I complain?

I find Boulder itself offensive. I think we need a hotline for having cities like this removed from the earth or at the very least N. America.

The loony Left likes to complain about perceived censorship by conservatives. then they do this.

Boulder is hardly a bastion of conservatism.

I can see it now. A minister preaches against homosexuality, and citizens call the hotline to report him.

Did not the Nazi’s in Germany do something similar to this in the early 30’s?
Maybe city sponsored book burnings will be next.

Then.....

Having lived in Boulder for a while, I can state fairly unequivocally that some of the most hateful people I’ve ever met are Boulder liberals.

What’s with the term “hate speech”? Whatever happened to the term hateful speech?

When did it become a noun rather than an adjective modifying a noun? I’ll tell you when: it happened in the era of “political correctness”. Now we see cases where killing someone and saying “nigger” gets a higher prison sentence than killing someone and saying nothing. Or even saying “cracker” or “whitey”. Only special groups apply.

Isn’t thoughtcrime fun? God help you if you’re not in a favored group.

You know what’s funny?  Black rappers screaming “Kill Whitey” has never been classified as “hate speech.” Just as whites beat up or murdered in black neighborhoods are never victims of “hate” crimes.

The only people who can be haters, according to liberal dogma, is white males.  Well, that may not be true all the time, but that’s sometimes how it looks to this white male.

It most definately isn’t true.  Liberal’s racism is often played out in their low expectations.

And you know who controls and panders to those favored groups.

Rob the whole Bryant Gumble thing is proof of your point. Had the shoe been on the white foot in that instance there would have been lots of public apologies and a firing or two.

Liberal’s racism is often played out in their low expectations.

My goodness that’s a true statement.

Look to California, where an expectation that high schoolers pass a basic skills test before graduating is considered to be biased against minorities.  Because, you know, most minorities are too stupid to pass a basic test.

The Whistler said, Liberal’s racism is often played out in their low expectations.

Blacks are dumb. That’s why we need to give them 20 admission points at the University of Michigan. We’ll dress the condescending and insulting practice up by calling it “affirmative action” and “diversity”. We need to stay away from Europe’s term of “positive discrimination” because Americans won’t buy that. Black people,..er...I mean “African-Americans” also are so stuck in the past that they are held back because of their history. You see, their great-great-great-great-great-grandmother was a slave - or at least she might have been but it doesn’t really matter - and this is why “African-Americans” just can’t make it.

Women are weak and stupid. They need a hand out. If they can’t pass a physical endurance test to become a fireman,..er...fireperson, we need to lower the standards. Wouldn’t want to hurt their feelings, and that is more important than carrying out a victim out of a burning building. “Diversity” baby!

White Christian males are superior above all other people. That’s why they get no special treatment and no special laws. If a white Christian male makes it in this world, it is because of his priviledged status.

Asians need no special treatment either. Since they can somehow come over to America and within 10 years speak English, own a few businesses, and send their straight A honor roll kids to the best colleges, they get no hand outs and condescending babying. We’ll reserve that for the lower races and gender.

Finally, don’t call black people “colored”. They will accept your donation however.

Well,..that’s what “political correctness” and “diversity” have taught me. It has taught me to treat black people and to a lesser extent, women, with kid gloves in a paternalistic manner. It’s quite evident what the lessons of “political correctness” are after they are put into practice.

Good thing I don’t buy into any of that racist sexist claptrap, egh? Too bad it was taught to me in my government grade, middle, and high school.

Do liberals and socialists understand that once their policies are implemented, that is the end of freedom.

In a word, yes.  My question to you is, why do we continue to pretend that their intent is different from the effect of their actions?

If a man shoots another man, he might be able to argue that it was an accident.  If he shoots three men, it’s harder to believe that he didn’t truly intend to actually shoot them.  If he shoots six men, stops to reload and then shoots six more, I think we can safely say that he intended to commit murder.

Committed socialists and communists know full well the history of their movement.  That they continue to push their agenda is proof of their intent.

kbiel, I’m sure you know about denial. Well, considering some of the liberal comments on this blog, don’t you think that applies to some of them?

I agree that some are in denial and yet many more just deny the reality knowing full well what it is. How do we tell the difference between those who deny because they are ignorant and those who deny because they do not want us to know their true intent?

Another ploy they use is that the problem was with those other guys and we being smarter will do it better.

When they say that they can do it better, they don’t mean that they can implement socialist goals while preserving our freedoms.  Clearly, their actions prove that to be untrue.  They just mean that they think they can do it without killing millions of people as Stalin did (or Pol Pot or Mao Zedong or Fidel Castro or...).

Wow you people are begining to sound very racist, you all better watch out or you’ll end up in room 101 of the Ministry of Love. smile

Don’t forget to remember Freedom is Slavery as Big Brother passes his laws to better protect you from the evils that are out to harm you.

Really, I can’t wait to the bulk of Americans wake up and become aware of the Jewish control of this country. the very same one’s who push affirmative action and diversity because it serves them greater than any other minority.

Down with Big Brother

We have a name for Liberals in Europe, they are called Socialists. I think it’s funny that you Americans use the word Liberal. Why don’t you call them what they are. Socialists!
If you want more centralized government control of the market, price controls, higher than 50% taxes, gun control, more union control, government control of healthcare, etc. You are a Socialist. It’s all about control for the Socialists. American Liberals should admit who they are.
