1. Obama tells Blagojevich he’d like Valerie Jarrett to replace him in the Senate.

2. Blagojevich says “OK, I’ll pick that Valerie Jarrett, but in exchange you have to give me a gazillion dollars.”

3. Obama explains that this is illegal.

4. Blagojevich says “So you’re not willing to give me anything except appreciation? Fuck you!!”

5. Shortly thereafter, in a strange coincidence, Blagojevich gets arrested.

It is not the acts of communication alleged, but rather the lie(s) in furtherance of avoiding a full explanation.

Of course Obama talked to Blago, either personally or through his staff. No crime committed there. Even Axelrod acknowledged the contacts. It was Obama’s knee-jerk denial of either he or anyone in his staff having any conversations with Blago that invites scrutiny.

Obama made a rookie mistake by taking a position publicly before bothering to get his facts together. Why did he find it necessary to issue an immediate and all-encompassing denial, when it was not even necessary?

Those of us familiar with the sleaze pit of Illinois politics see these events not as evidence of “hope and change”, but rather “business as usual”.

Yes, you missed the part where Obama invoked the spirit of Vince Foster who paid a “ghost of democrats past” visit to Paula Jones who remembered a time when she ran into Obama and Bill Ayers at a crack smoking party in Chicago and Obama told her to kiss his privates right before he bought a piece of property at Whitewater and built a house there with CRA loan money so that he and Bill Clinton could have an orgy with Monica Lewinsky being very careful to not break any of the strict rules of Islamic sex since Obama is a muslim born in Kenya using a fake birth certificate that was put together by his illegal aunt living in poverty since Obama isn’t generous like he wants Joe the Plumber to be.
