Obama’s Reverend’s Approval Numbers: 8%

Reverend Jeremiah “God Damn America” Wright may have quite a following at his church, but he isn’t exactly resonating with the average American.

Pastor Jeremiah Wright, who has become part of the national political dialogue in recent days, is viewed favorably by 8% of voters nationwide. A Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey found that 58% have an unfavorable view of the Pastor whose controversial comments have created new challenges for Barack Obama’s Presidential campaign.

Not only do they not like him, they find the sermons he preached to Obama for the last two decades to be racist:

Seventy-three percent (73%) of voters say that Wright’s comments are racially divisive. That opinion is held by 77% of White voters and 58% of African-American voters. In addressing the issue, Obama warned against injecting race into the campaign .

Even a majority of blacks don’t like what Wright has to say.
Of course, the most important question is how much impact this will have on Obama’s numbers. He’s been campaigning as a unifying “nice guy” candidate, but when he associates himself with someone like Wright how unifying can he be?

With an approval number like that I doubt that Rev. Wright will win any elections this year.

Aye! But, will he lose one for someone? That is the question!

Barack and Michelle seem to like him.

It is ironic that it was a black minister that brought down Obama’s campaign. No matter how you spin it you can not blame this one on white folk.

    And that’s the problem
