Obama’s Inauguration Sets Record For Most Private Jet Accomodations
This is funny for two reasons:
According to an article in Bloomberg, as many as 600 private jets were expected to touch down in D.C. for the inauguration. The runway at Washington Dulles was closed Saturday to allow as many as 100 small planes to park. And the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority said it expected a total of 500 small jets to land from Jan. 16 through Jan 21.
“That would set a record, topping the 300 the airport accommodated for President George W. Bush’s 2004 inaugural,” an Airports Authority says in the article.
First, there’s this from Obama’s inauguration speech:
With old friends and former foes, we’ll work tirelessly to lessen the nuclear threat, and roll back the specter of a warming planet.
Obama and his fellow liberals will work tirelessly to stop global warming. Just don’t expect them to fly coach.
I’ll believe in a global warming threat when the people who want to use it as an excuse to tax and regulate every part of my life start acting like it’s a threat.
Second, I thought Republicans were “the party of the rich.” I thought it was Bush and his cronies who were a bunch of plutocrats running the country to the ground at the expense of the poor, unwashed masses. And yet Obama’s inauguration brings in twice as many private jets at Bush’s?
Kind of throws a monkey wrench in that bit of liberal mythology, doesn’t it?
