Obama’s “Global Warming Czar” Has Links To Socialists
I’ve often said that global warming hysteria is being leveraged by big-government types to excuse their endless campaign for more government power and less individual liberty, but who knew that a President would bring in as a member of his administration and out-and-out socialist with that very outcome as her goal:
Until last week, Carol M. Browner, President-elect Barack Obama’s pick as global warming czar, was listed as one of 14 leaders of a socialist group’s Commission for a Sustainable World Society, which calls for “global governance” and says rich countries must shrink their economies to address climate change.
By Thursday, Mrs. Browner’s name and biography had been removed from Socialist International’s Web page, though a photo of her speaking June 30 to the group’s congress in Greece was still available.
Socialist International, an umbrella group for many of the world’s social democratic political parties such as Britain’s Labor Party, says it supports socialism and is harshly critical of U.S. policies.
The group’s Commission for a Sustainable World Society, the organization’s action arm on climate change, says the developed world must reduce consumption and commit to binding and punitive limits on greenhouse gas emissions.
Make no doubt about it: Global warming hype is all about justifying more government. Big government. And less individual freedom.
After all, when we can’t even breathe without polluting the environment (we exhale carbon, remember) according to these people, the government has all the excuse it needs to regulate everything.
And Obama does have policies like that in the works. His proposed “cap and trade” system for regulating carbon emissions is all about the government controlling industry in America. All production emits carbon in one way or another, so if all businesses must first purchase permission (carbon credits) from the government to produce under a cap and trade system then the government can control all production through regulation.
Which is the goal of socialists. Government controls the means of production.
It’s a scary, scary thing for America.
