Obama’s Debt Could Mean 100% Inflation In The Next Decade

Which would mean ten years from now pretty much everything would cost twice as much as it does now.
Think your income is going to double between now and then?

…the risk posed by [the national] debt is systemic and could do more damage to the economy than the recent financial crisis. To understand the size of the risk, take a look at the numbers that Standard and Poor’s considers. The deficit in 2019 is expected by the CBO to be $1,200bn (€859bn, £754bn). Income tax revenues are expected to be about $2,000bn that year, so a permanent 60 per cent across-the-board tax increase would be required to balance the budget. Clearly this will not and should not happen. So how else can debt service payments be brought down as a share of GDP?
Inflation will do it. But how much? To bring the debt-to-GDP ratio down to the same level as at the end of 2008 would take a doubling of prices. That 100 per cent increase would make nominal GDP twice as high and thus cut the debt-to-GDP ratio in half, back to 41 from 82 per cent. A 100 per cent increase in the price level means about 10 per cent inflation for 10 years. But it would not be that smooth – probably more like the great inflation of the late 1960s and 1970s with boom followed by bust and recession every three or four years, and a successively higher inflation rate after each recession.
The fact that the Federal Reserve is now buying longer-term Treasuries in an effort to keep Treasury yields low adds credibility to this scary story, because it suggests that the debt will be monetised.

It’s not a for sure thing, but it’s certainly something that could happen if we don’t get debt under control. If we don’t cut spending, the alternative to massive inflation is a 60% hike in taxes.
Meanwhile, Obama’s planning on adding a national health care entitlement to the balance sheet.
Hope and change!

Yeah but all this doesn’t matter. After all, there is no future vision in today’s liberal thinker. They’ve got their Messiah NOW. They’ve got their plunder NOW. Fsck the future.

That’s the same philosophy that brings you all those bankruptcies. But it’s those evil credit cards that forced me to buy all this…

Again… no personal responsibility = no freedom, no matter how loud you demand it.

Ask Jimmy Carter how … The ignorants will still be in line waiting for ZERO to deliver their freebies.

Here’s the deal, stems. You marry someone who racks up all your credit cards, puts you in deep debt and then scoots. Do you:

    a) Stop working and hope for the best

    b) stop paying your bills and hope for the best

    c) take out some loans and start rebuilding your life

bush was the cunt who racked up the credit cards and left. Obama was left with the bills.

GET A FUCKING CLUE. YOUR GUYS RAN THE COUNTRY INTO THE GROUND. TIME TO STFU.

You idiots act like you’ve been out of power for decades and the liberals ran the country for the last 30 years. WRONG. This isn’t 1993. You’ve BEEN in power for most of the time since 1994, completely for most of the last 8 YEARS. YOU FUCKED UP BAD. REALLY BAD.

100% inflation in ten years? That works out to about a 7% annual inflation rate.

I doubt that is sustainable for 10 years, so if your source is right, we are looking at a complete crash of the US economy in about 5 to 7 years.

Do you think (hypothetically) that things would have been better if McCain were president now? I’m just asking—I didn’t vote for Mr. Vacuum any more than I did the O-Bomb.

The Republicans had a spending problem. The Democrats are eleven times worse.

FY 2007 deficit (the last Republican budget)– 160 billion.

FY 2009 after the Dems took total power– 1.75 Trillion.

As bad as things are at least the Dems can’t duck accountability.

Now if the Republicans would pull their heads out of their rear ends we could actually start the fix in 2010.

I wish that inflation will only be 100% in ten years. I’m afraid it might be worse, much worse. We may be looking at hyperinflation. HYPER.

MARK MY WORDS AGAIN; we have low housing prices that caused all of this, right? well. inflation will keep them low or depress them even more. so get ready for the spike up and even more ready to jump out before it collapses.

bush was the cunt who racked up the credit cards and left. Obama was left with the bills.

    As I’ve proved before:

Democrats are responsible for .6 trillion of Bush’s debt, by overpassing his vetoes. They wrote the shit TARP bill, .8 trillion more. 1.4 trillion of Bush’s 5 is Dem fault. Oops.

Yet the liberal influence is undeiable. Bush asked the left to write his mediacare, education and other bills, and you butchered them

This is the left’s fault. And people like Dino should be beaten for it.

  • tarpon

I have it on good authority that liberals think they don’t pay inflation.

The Fascist FDR already proved ZERO has set out on the path to ruin.

Funny you should say grants. I know a college IT worker, ran a small department of do nothing IT types, said that he was safe from cuts. Funny thing happened at the college where he works, not enough students. So they cut his whole department last week. He had already told me they lost 40% in their pension fund.

Liberals, they are born without brains, and never acquire them.

  • brenarlo

Hey… finally some mainstream people are talking about inflation. That’s good to hear. Dino is right that Carter didn’t invent inflation. The Federal Reserve causes inflation, no matter which President is in office.

The only thing the government does well is inflate.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/entry/america_is_back/#c397018 DINO

Silly stems! No one cares if you can afford to live in the future! You whiners just need to work harder to afford life once our debt-ridden country is forced to create inflation that lures more foreign investment. Don’t worry about the wealthy you worship. They’ll be fine!

Of course you stems do know that Jimmy Carter didn’t invent inflation, right? You dolts do remember the out of control inflation of the early 70s? Under Nixon and Ford?

All of our present problems can be laid at the feet of the conservatism you diligently voted for over the last 30 years.

Do tell the children hello (and sorry), won’t you? You see, I don’t have any to worry about being burdened with the folly of your misguided political choices.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/entry/america_is_back/#c397018 DINO

He has a selective memory and can’t remember the double digit inflation, double digit interest, unemployment and homelessness of the Carter years.

Inflation was rampant before Carter (Carter years in bold):

    72 3.4%
    73 8.8%
    74 12.2%
    75 7%
    76 4.8%
    77 6.7%
    78 9%
    79 13%
    80 12%

Interest rates were raised to cure inflation. It worked at the cost of lots of suffering.

Unemployment figures (Carter years in bold):

    1970 4.9
    1971 5.9
    1972 5.6
    1973 4.9
    1974 5.6
    1975 8.5
    1976 7.7
    1977 7.1
    1978 6.1
    1979 5.8
    1980 7.1
    1981 7.6

    1982 9.7
    1983 9.6
    1984 7.5

Look at how it goes up under reagan. May he burn in HELL.

Homelessness as a social problem was nearly unheard of until reagan turned out the mentally ill into the streets. Many were damaged Vietnam vets who you shitstains say you support until they get home. Then you chase from your suburbss to live on the streets of our liberal cities.

Let’s also nmont forget the crisis of Watergate and having that filthy shitstain republican crook resign.

Deficits due to bush’s tax cuts and off-the-books war spending were always expected to catch up with us once their effects were fully realized and compounded. The republican-policy created financial meltdown (occurring before Obama took office) and resulting economic collapse added greatly to the deficits. Which brings us round to the lesser intellects thinking it all happened since Jan 20th.

I have posted the same article from Financial Times today at the readers blogs (7 hours before this post). It is too sad, that it seems very few people have read it (had only 2 comments),but it is a true picture of where is this country headed. It is because of your ignorance people, that you are about to lose the best country in the world and turn it over to Obama to transform it into the socialist utopia he wants.

    Anyway here is the article:

    http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/entry/exploding_debt_threatens_america/

If you read the whole article you will find few excuses that Obama and his drones use. One of them is the excuse, that Obama inherited this mess or as Dino2 says that all of this spending is the result of the 8 years of the Bush’s presidency, but as the author writes ….

The debt was 41 per cent of GDP at the end of 1988, President Ronald Reagan’s last year in office, the same as at the end of 2008, President George W. Bush’s last year in office. If one thinks policies from Reagan to Bush were mistakes does it make any sense to double down on those mistakes, as with the 80 per cent debt-to-GDP level projected when Mr Obama leaves office?

  • http://suitepotato.blogspot.com/ sayanything-4808

Most of the debt is resulting from spending yet to be done. We’re not talking the constitution here. Spending can be UNDONE and we have to hammer the politicians into doing just that. Without fail, without letup, we have to spread the idea in society that the people should keep their own money and tell the politicians to fuck off when it comes to bribing us with it.

    “Obama don’t preach,
    we’re in trouble deep.
    Obama don’t preach,
    we’ve been losing sleep.
    But I’m keeping my money…
    I’m gonna keep my money.”

We need to get the public to stop thinking that their money is anything but their money. It’s THEIRS and NOT the government’s. Just say no to government spending. Stand up, give the government the figure, and say no. Stand your ground. They can’t make us all cooperate if we stand firm together.

As it is, the total hypocritical disrespect shown for the system by the Obama team with so many willful tax evaders is only going to convince more people to do and keep business and money overseas and to obfuscate their income as much as they can. Tax evasion is going to become MORE common thanks to BO.

We need to engage in peaceful non-violent disobedience. We owe them no obedience. We’re supposed to be the ones from which the imperative to governance springs and the authority for same. We need to teach that to them again.
