Obama’s Literary Agent Listed Him As Born In Kenya For 16 Years

Much is being made of Mitt Romney’s recent “birther comments.” I suspect because the addition of Rep. Paul Ryan to Romney’s ticket was moving the presidential race dangerously close to real, substantive issues like entitlement reform and Democrats needed to derail that with a shift to birtherism and the “war on women.”
But what’s interesting, if we’re going to talk about birtherism, is that Obama’s own literary agent listed him as being born in Kenya for 16 years, from the beginning of his career as an author to just before his first run for President.
Here’s a copy of the pamphlet:

Like Victor Davis Hanson, I don’t think this was so much evidence that Obama was actually born in Kenya and thus is ineligible for the Presidency (the fact that he had citizenship from birth by way of his American mother makes the geography of his birth a moot point, I believe) but rather evidence that the President was willing to fabricate parts of his biography in order to sell books and ultimately himself. Certainly the President read his own bio and could have corrected it. Certainly at some point during the 16 years this bio was used he reviewed it for the purposes of updates and revisions. Probably Obama wrote and submitted this bio himself.
I think the President was born in Hawaii. I think he was a citizen of the United States from birth, regardless of whether he was born. But Obama is most certainly the sort of man who would lie about something as fundamental as his birthplace in order to give himself an edge.
That doesn’t speak highly for his character.
