Obama White House To Deeds: When We Said Frog, You Didn’t Jump High Enough
Please feel free to correct me if I’m wrong, but there is an incredible arrogance in the Omama Administration telling a Democratic candidate for governor of Virginia that, if he loses the election, it’s because he had the audacity to not jump the way they said to jump during his campaign:
A senior administration official said Deeds badly erred on several fronts, including not doing a better job of coordinating with the White House. “I understood in the beginning why there was some reluctance to run all around the state with Barack Obama,” said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity in order to speak candidly about the race. “You don’t do that in Virginia. But when you consider the African American turnout that they need, and then when you consider as well they’ve got a huge problem with surge voters, younger voters, we were just a natural for them.”
A second administration official, who also spoke on condition of anonymity, said: “Obama, Kaine and others had drawn a road map to victory in Virginia. Deeds chose another path.”
Of course, the fact that a Democrat is facing the possibility of the voters giving them the boot couldn’t possibly have anything to do with the reality that the presidential campaign is over, Obama has the White House, and Democrats contol both Houses of Congress, and now voters aren’t liking what they’re seeing, could it?
No, of course not. If Deeds loses Virginia it must be because he just wasn’t Obamaish enough. Can’t you see that? Deeds is expendable, but not at the cost of any reflection on Obama.
A commenter over at the Washington Post put it very well indeed:

How does that Queen song go again? Something about another one biting the dust, I think.
