Obama Welcomes Endorsement Of Anti-Gun Group With Fake Name

The American Hunters and Shooters Association, a group that much like Obama masks it’s hard-left agenda with moderate sounding words, has given Barack Obama its endorsement.  Obama is sure to use the group’s endorsement, with its pro-gun sounding name, to shore up support among gun-loving Americans.  But the problem is that the group isn’t pro gun by any stretch of the imagination.

The AHSA is not a “moderate gun rights organization”; it’s an anti-gun group camouflaged with a pro-gun-sounding name. The Brady Campaign’s president has endorsed it, and AHSA’s president once gave $5,000 to Handgun Control Inc., the Brady Campaign’s predecessor. The NRA has quite thoroughly documented the anti-gun credentials of the group’s main figures.

This is pretty much par for the course with Obama, isn’t it?  All appearances, little substance.  Lies on top of lies.

“The NRA is extreme,” says Ray Schoenke, the former Washington Redskins lineman and failed Democratic candidate for governor of Maryland who is president of the American Hunters and Shooters Association.

As proof of his gun-toting credentials, Schoenke says he likes nothing better than heading to Maryland’s Eastern Shore and shooting a duck, then cleaning it, cooking it and eating it. “I own guns,” he boasts. “I have guns everywhere.”

Schoenke hopes this macho, carnivorous image will make pro-gun voters more open to accepting “common sense” limits on gun buying. Such changes can’t be so bad, he wants gunners to say, if fellow enthusiasts also support them.

Schoenke’s association backs candidates for federal office who oppose an outright gun ban but who favor some restrictions, such as requiring background checks on people who purchase weapons at gun shows. In late 2006, in its nascent foray into gun politics, the association helped elect Claire McCaskill (D-Mo.) to the Senate by backing her against the NRA’s favorite in the race, incumbent Jim Talent (R).

The association plans to endorse many more candidates this year, concentrating on those who not only embrace modest forms of gun control but who also want to conserve the environment—for hunters, of course. (The effort also is timely as the Supreme Court considers the fate of the District’s gun ban.)

So as long as you only support guns in the liberal approved way (like, you just keep a shotgun around for when it’s campaign season and time to mix wit the yokels) you’re ok, but if you think it’s your inalienable right and that the government should keep its beak out you’re “crazy.”

Gotcha.

Now go ahead and tell us we’re bitter too, Hannitized.

American Hunters and Shooters Association.

Interesting how the anti-gunners hide behind deceptive names like the above in attempts to fool the public and gain relevance.  Typical ploy by lefties since they know that their ‘dark’ programs would not stand in the light of truth and honesty.
