Obama Wants Cap And Trade System So Aggressive It Would Bankrupt Coal Powerplants

“If someone wants to build a coal power plant they can, it’s just that it will bankrupt them.”

Shouldn’t markets dictate which types of power plants go out of business and which flourish? Is it really a good idea to have politicians putting into place policies that punish certain types of businesses just for existing?
I know coal isn’t really an eco-friendly power source, but it’s a cheap and readily available power source that already powers millions of homes and businesses in this country. If Obama runs coal power out of business, what happens to all that cheap and plentiful energy? It goes away, forcing Americans to more expensive alternatives and leaving tens of thousands of coal and power plant workers out of jobs.
All so that Barack Obama can claim that he’s saving the planet.
By the way, do you know what ideology has government not owning the means of production but regulating them to the point that certain favored businesses flourish and certain disfavored businesses die? Fascism. I’m not kidding. Fascism was Mussolini’s “third way” between communism and capitalism.

Everything in life is a matter of making judgments on a cost/benefit basis, and energy use is no exception. Even if coal was still “dirty”, it might make sense to use it, because the benefits of doing that would far outweigh the cost. This decision should be made in a way that makes sense, not emotional ecopropagandizing.

As has been pointed out before. There is no alternative to coal energy.

So if the coal industry goes away the public as a whole will be greatly harmed.

The planet is far cleaner than it was a hundred years ago even though we have far more people on it. While some coal extraction techniques might not be what others would wish they were, they’re impact is limited to a very small area.

Finally the carbon dioxide emitted when you burn coal? That’s called plant food.

If you eliminated ALL carbon dioxide from the atmosphere (which would cause the death of all plant life) you would have eliminated a tiny fraction of all the “greenhouse gases” in the atmosphere. WATER VAPOR is the major greenhouse gas! Are you going to DRAIN THE OCEANS???

Killing the coal mining industry will kill the railroad industry which relies on coal for a large chunk of revenue.

Anyone care to guess what a world without railroads would look like? Oh I’m sorry, he’ll just nationalize the railroad industry. And we’ve seen that before, it’s called Amtrak

When you say that some Leftist policy will kill an industry, which will kill another, which will cause poverty, which will kill PEOPLE–you have to understand that, to a Conservative, that’s a problem, but to a Leftist, that’s NOT a problem. Killing people is THEIR GOAL. The ban on DDT was INTENDED to kill people–and it has killed hundreds of millions of people. Killing the coal industry will kill people. Killing the oil industry will kill people.

The BEST part of all this killing, for Obama, is that it will kill AMERICANS.

The fact that abortion is disproportionately killing BLACK Americans is really okay with Obama–because these are black AMERICANS. Get it? Black Americans, from Obama’s point of view, are really “white”–or, as Jeremiah Wright said, “I’m sick and tired of these NEGROES” who don’t join the Left.

It’s all one big issue: abortion, infanticide, euthanasia, eco-wacko-paganism, hatred of the free market, hatred of the Constitution, hatred of Sarah Palin (for being feminine and fertile), hatred of Todd Palin (for being masculine and fertile), hatred of Bristol Palin (for not aborting her baby), hatred of TRIG Palin (for not having been aborted), hatred of Willow Palin (for showing affection for Trig). Go to the Leftist blogs, Leftist talk radio, and mainstream liberal columnists and you will find all these particular hatreds for each of the Palins for all these reasons.

The Left, by adopting anti-carbon fanaticism, is simply following its principles one step farther. To be anti-carbon is just one more way to be anti-life. And adopting totalitarian control of carbon, as Obama plans to do, is just another way of implementing totalitarian control over LIFE–especially, of course, the most EVIL form of life–human life.

There is a hard core on the Left, so-called “deep environmentalism,” that want to reduce the human population to about 50 million. They aren’t joking. When that happens, we will be as poor, and as “unpolluting,” as Cro-Magnon Man, or Neanderthal Man.

Will it get that far? Probably not. But they HAVE killed about fifty million babies in America, and about one billion babies worldwide. You can’t kill that many innocent people and have “civility” in “public discourse.” You are on the path to war in some form–war between nations, between religions, and/or war within nations.

If McCain wins, we will having only a reprieve, a SLOWING of the progress of the Left. If Obama wins, the “progress” of all these evils will accelerate.

Back in the 70′s my uncle was in charge of building nuclear power plants. I remember touring two different plants. It was really impressive. I can’t imagine where we would be now had those plants be allowed to flourish.I’m not surprised by this tape. Remember what Biden told that chick on the rope line? No coal plants! they can build them dirty things in China! See, I’m starting to think that Biden is the one who tells the truth, and they just call it gaffes.

And nuclear plants save lives. I read about 35 years ago (and with increased population and traffic, the number would probably be higher today) that in the lifetime of a typical nuclear plant, about 500 lives would NOT be lost at railroad crossings, because of all the trainloads of coal that would NOT be needed by the power plant.
