Obama To Mimic Martin Luther King While Accepting Nomination

Last night word spread that Obama’s stage at Invesco Field was shaping up to look like some sort of a Greek temple.  Now pictures of the stage have emerged, and it’s becoming clear that the stage is intended to look like the Lincoln Memorial:

So why the Lincoln Memorial?  Well, that’s where Martin Luther King Jr. delivered his famous “I have a dream” speech.  But here’s the thing: How arrogant does a not-even-a-single-term Senator, whose greatest accomplishments seem to be presiding over the Harvard Law Review and knowing how to deliver a good speech off of a teleprompter, have to be to compare himself to Martin Luther King Jr.?

I mean, give me a break.

It is no wonder young voters are enamoured with Obama.  He is just like them.  Young, idealistic and with no experience.  They haven’t tried anything yet so they believe they can do anything.

See, I could forgive Obama if he was 25 and had his current resume.  But the man, who claims to have the talents to turn 5000 years of human history on its head and make Republicans and Democrats play nice, world despots lay down their arms and basically change everything has NO record of ever changing ANYTHING that anyone can recall.

Has he been saving up all of his “change” talents for after he is elected?  Where are the shining examples of Obama working across the aisle?

Nope, he will lose in the end because he is an empty suit.

Martin Luther King Jr is such a Republican favorite.

Would you recommend a tanning salon for Obama?[/sarcasm]

Republicans used to be the party of Lincoln. One can sense a slight demographic shift, post reconstruction. African americans in the US Congress.

If you are (childishly) referring to McCain, I would think such a vote would be to his credit.  The idea that the federal government would honor Dr. King with a named holiday at the expense of both Washington and Lincoln is patently obscene.

Washington and Lincoln fought with deeds and words for how they believed America should be as country and how she should treat it’s citizens. For this we honor them.
MLK fought with words and non violence, as to how he believed ( and rightly so) America should treat all it’s citizens. For this he is rightfully honored.
That you are scared from black Americans, is evident. The fact that any black man/woman with power is viewed by you and some others as a threat to the white power structure is also evident in many of your posts.

rbb and his fellow travelers are all studiously avoiding mention of the elephant in the room: Obama has a Texas sized ego and a Rhode Island sized résumé.

Prentending to be JFK in Germany, Churchill at 10 Downing Street and MLK at the Lincoln Memorial only goes to further illustrate that Obama (much like his followers here) has reached new depths of shallow.

That has to be one of the biggest pieces of BULLSHIT that I have seen in a long time. So if we don’t like NOBAMA/BHO or his wife we are racist? How about we don’t like his Marxist/communist/socialist views his skin color is not relevant.

As long as we are pandering out holidays why not have a Hillary Clinton Holiday honoring women and their assent through the glass ceiling. Oh wait; the Democrats still have a glass ceiling over women in the Whitehouse.

Man elinas you need to read some books, because your pie in the sky idea of Lincoln and Washington are outright comical.  Washington never cared one IOTA about this country, only his image and how it would be portrayed in a historical sense.  I suggest reading the book “His Excellency” by Joseph J. Ellis.  As for Lincoln, this man was all to ready to leave slavery and everything the South wanted in tact to avoid the war, he literally used the slaves in this country to justify the continuation of a war that was becoming increasingly unpopular and the citizen was not too eager to fight any more.

Finally, as for you ultra racist little rant at the end of your post, I could give two craps less what the color of someone’s skin is, as long as the content of their character is sound and something I can trust and rely upon.  Barry is being judged on the content of his character, plain and simple!!!

James on August 27, 2008 at 08:43 am

Where’s the honor in removing the named holidays of both Lincoln and Washington from the federal calendar while adding a named holiday (the only one!) favoring King?

As for this,

That you are scared from black Americans, is evident. The fact that any black man/woman with power is viewed by you and some others as a threat to the white power structure is also evident in many of your posts.

your convoluted diction aside, your simple-minded attempt at insult is, regrettably, predictable.  Demonstrably wrong, hopelessly presumptuous, tediously self-serving, and completely lacking in any factual basis, but nonetheless predictable.

Those of us on/in The Right are the ones who refuse the group victimology and cradle-to-grave dependence on government so assiduously promoted by those of you on the Left.  We don’t support policies that destroy incentive and punish success as you do.

I couldn’t care less that someone is black and successful… only that he or she is successful.  Being white, or black, or for that matter Greek, is irrelevant.

Why are you guys buying into Rob’s analysis??

Has it crossed your mind that Obama might be subliminally reminding us that Lincoln had almost zero experience when he became president?  Oh but wait, Bat one said it doesn’t matter because the world has changed.

Yeah, no country could actually send ships over here to take us over like they could when Lincoln was president.

Sheesh.

Don’t let Robs bad ideas influence you.  It’s clear he has at least 2 voices in his head telling him what to think.

Lincoln had little experience when he became president?

He at least could debate someone with the use of a teleprompter!  Also, if my history doesn’t fail me, he started working when he was a young age on a farm, practiced law for a number of years, had a very distinguished illinois political career, and had a very distinguished career in the house of representatives.

Lincoln had more experience than Barry did by the time he was 25.

Pretty pathetic comparison by any means.

James on August 27, 2008 at 10:53 am

Name some of accomplishments that made his time in the house “distinguished”.

Don’t worry, not expecting a response to that question.  I know you have nothing.

In his 2 Years in the House he introduced a bill to abolish slavery in the District of Columbia and he fought vigorously agianst the Mexican War which basically cost him his seat.  Not to mention the fact that he didn’t run for this office until a couple of people who were his senior in his district had their turn at the office.  This action alone makes the comparison, once again, a pathetic attempt at equating a tird to a bar of gold!

Obama supporters keep chanting the mantra that Barack Obama
is the candidate who can unite our country ... but, Obama couldn’t
even unite his own party ... even after winning the nomination. And,
in reality, McCain has the history of working across the isle in congress.
Obama has brainwashed his followers into operatIing on ‘belief’, rather
than reason ... just as he learned in Jeremiah Wright’s church ... the power of BLIND faith.
Even his campaign solgan is based on belief, not common sense, logic,
or reason. Obama’s even got his followers publicly denouncing the importance
of experience ... as if that’s the reason Bush performed poorly ... when the
real reason Obama and his followers denounce experience is because
Obama doesn’t have any.
Keep America Strong ... Elect Senator John McCain in November !!

It looks to me that if he uses the Licoln Memorial Replica as a stage where it is now, he is not expecting as large a crowd as he wanted. This would cut off at least 1/3 of the seats from seeing him float down from the coulds to the podium.

To set the record straight, Lincoln’s words were, according to many reports much better than his skills of oratory. It was said he had a high pitched voice and even he felt his own speech at Gettysburg was a failure, no one seemed to listen at all; that is, until the long winded orator that preceded him to the podium told him that his words would go down in history they were so great.

To set the record straight about the Party of Lincoln, without the Republican Party the Civil Rights Act and most civil rights legislation of the late Sixties would never have become law. The Democrats have demonized the Republicans as racist mainly because they do not believe in buying people out of problems, by just throwing massive amounts of money at problems. They see government’s role as providing tools and opportunities and making the person responsible for using them. The Democrats are the racist party, they believe poor blacks are just too stupid and lacking in the basic necessities to prosper on their own, so they built the Welfare Planation so white Democrat Massah’s could help them darkies eat and sleep better in them tenements. Republicans believe people of color are as good as anyone else and given the right tools and opportunities they can succeed and prosper and they don’t need any government Massah’s (nannys) to tell them what to do.

No matter the age or state of health, for a military man it is always glorious to tilt at windmills, rescue a fair Dulcinea and be a gallant knight in armor in a glorious cause.
