Obama To Holds “Jobs Forum” At White House To Consider “Every Possible Option” To Create Jobs
Every possible option except, I’m sure, cutting back on government spending and cutting taxes.
Washington (CNN) – President Barack Obama announced Thursday that he will host a White House ‘jobs forum’ in December.
“Millions of Americans… are desperately searching for jobs,” the president said in brief remarks at the White House, before leaving for an 8-day trip to Asia. The government has “an obligation to consider” every possible idea to generate new job growth, he said.
The forum will include representatives from business, organized labor, and academia, among other sectors, Obama added.
Unemployment has continued to climb in recent months, hitting a 26-year high of 10.2 percent in October.
Here are some things that would put Americans back to work:
Rescind the minimum wage hikes over the last two years, which have inflated labor prices and lowered demand for labor. Roll back expanded unemployment benefits that are an additional cost to employers. Cancel the rest of the “stimulus” spending spree and stop the deficit spending and promise to keep the Bush tax cuts to that investors will feel secure in putting their money back into the markets. And also cancel any attempts to pass government health care and cap and trade into law, but also representing huge new burdens to the private sector if passed.
If they did those things America’s labor market would come roaring back. Of course, it means arrogant politicians divesting themselves of power, so that’s not going to happen.
