Obama, The Democrats And The Blame Bush Agenda

I’m just getting ready to head down to the first day of the Defending the American Dream summit, but a reader emailed this and I think it’s an astute analysis:

I was just wondering whether you happened to know what the over/under was on the length of time Obama and his congress will blame bush if they take power?

I’m certain that within the first couple of weeks we’ll here “Oh deary me, Bush hid how bad things were so I can’t give the 95% of you in the middle class a tax break”. I’m sure at some point we’ll hear “Unbelievably Bush hid the damage to the environment by global warming, I’m going to have to ban CO2”.

It’ll go on and on - Given that the current congress has been in power since 2006 and yet their failure to pass legislation is due to “Bush & Republicans” I’m guessing we’ll be hearing this excuse for every bit of crappy tax & spend legislation through his entire term.

I think the part about “The Republicans wrecked the economy so we can’t do tax relief now” is particularly apt.

No, I’m pretty sure they will choose to put his image on Mt Rushmore.  He has done such a fine job and should get all the credit he deserves.  He is, without a doubt, the finest president we have ever had.  Well read, an intellectual, and a finnesse with foreign policy that brings a tear to the eye.

I look forward to visiting the G. Bush Library, reading his memoirs and watching him as he continues to serve the public, long after his term has expired.

George Bush-Republican President, statesman, orator, with an unmatched ability at domestic and foreign policy.

Nice off-topic rant, imagine.

As in I can’t imagine that the Democrats scapegoat others for their mistakes.

Where in my comments do you read anything negative about Bush.
I am merely stating my deep felt republican ideals and emotions in the fine work he has done.

How you choose to read my comments is not something I can control.

Let all true conservatives rally around this President and let his memory be forever remembered in the hearts of every American.

Bush, a name that will live in infamy.

Who has a lower popularity?  Bush or those liberal congressmen you genuflect towards on a daily basis?

Bush has made his share of mistakes & misjudgments to be sure.  But the major damage we have today is the result of flawed liberal models of how the world works.  GSEs, GSAs these are the entities that have cost Americans 20% of their stock values in the last few weeks.

In the mean time, after 8 years, Bush is finally starting to get good at this war thing.  You liberals, not so much.

Carrick on October 10, 2008 at 09:02 am

Those liberals are popular and will be elected this November.
Republicans not so much.

You libs are precious.  Should the Messiah succeed in stealing the election, (can you say ACORN?) you will have all three branches of Government.  Who are you going to blame then.  Your do nothing buddies have had congress for the last two years.  Oh, I am sure all of the Messiah’s campaign promises will be broken because “those damn republicans left a real mess.” Better get youtube to erase all those videos of the dems. voting “no” year after year in hearings to address the Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac issue.

A quick peak at California, where almost all power is held by the Democrats should provide an accurate glimpse of the future under liberal Democratic rule. CA has the highest income tax, highest corporate tax, highest average sales tax, and the highest deficit. And the new budget, signed 85 days late is already a billion in the red. Awesome job libs.

Gary M. on October 10, 2008 at 12:27 pm

Gary, I’m sure California can be blamed on the perpetual Republican minority there.

We’re obstructionists when we’re in the minority, you know.  But the when the Dems are in the minority, they’re fighting for the people and standing up to Republican tyranny.

Hoodlumman on October 10, 2008 at 12:48 pm

Absolutely Hoodluman.  We already are blamed.  The only power Repubs. have in CA is the power to block the budget.  They are needed for nothing else, no laws, no policies, nothing.  If the Dems. want something, they have the majority in both houses of government.  The only challenge they have is the Terminator, and he seems to fall in to the pit of liberalism at times. And the Dems are pushing to change the State Constitution to allow a simple majority to approve tax increases and the like.

I’m telling you, if anybody wants to see what unchecked liberal agendas can do to a major economic power, just take a look at California.

Gary M. on October 10, 2008 at 12:58 pm

One other thing.  The Repubs do have one other bit of power.  The power to block tax increases. It takes a 2/3 majority. (hence the dems desire to change the constitution) Not being able to avoid passing on a dollar they can’t take, the dems have passed all sorts of new “fees”.  There is a mountain of them.  Don’t need those silly Republicans for that!

#1 The credit problems stem from bad laws that predate Bush. Laws that were exasperated by Clinton, and, to a much lesser degree, Bush. The CRA, the ECOA, bad case law, etc. While Bush is not blameless...he just simply tossed his toothpick on a big mountain of crap that was ready to teeter.

#2 The talking point that the left had no power and is therefore blameless, for the 6 years he was in office with a Republican majority, is a lie. NCLB was Ted Kennedy’s baby. The Medicare nightmare was a Democrat written bill. Bush readily signed off on anything Katrina related that the left demanded because “it was nice”. And under liberal urging, Bush started the Iraq war. They were the most powerful minority in history, and when they took power, Bush said “good, now we can really get stuff done”. He walked hand in hand with the left on the Dream Act and the Bailout bill. And he was fully in favor of expanding SCHIP, but thought that covering 25 year olds was too much. He’s the most bipartisan president we’ve had...at least til McCain takes office.

#3 Despite his failings, Bush WILL be remembered positively by history. He liberated two countries, has helped bring some stability to the middle east, and kept the country safe from another terrorist attack. His tax cuts stimulated the economy and made life easier for everyone. He tried, but failed, to fix the school system.

If anyone needs a clue here imagine, it’s you.

For the first time in my adult life, I am ashamed of my country.

Kenny on October 10, 2008 at 01:52 pm

Kenny, don’t forget AIDS in Africa.  No one has done what Bush has to help that cause.

Imagine,

Were you not alive during the Carter admin.? It will be like that if O is Pres., just much worse. I would vote Bush again. Carter is from my home state, we all have been embarrased by him for 30 yrs.! Bush has been a great wartime Pres. True history, not the crap in public school kiddies history books, will show this. Do you really think Algore would have handled the attack on our country as well? Kerry? Carter? Hell, Carter would have apologized to the terrorists for our bad manners and invited them to brunch to taaallllkkkk. Maybe BO can talk to the DinnerJacket and tell him we will do whatever he wants.

I’m not sure if Kenny is serious or if this is a stand-up routine....

Bush is and will be remembered as the worst president in the history of US presidents.

He liberated what?  Find me someone who feels “liberated”

NCLB was an unfunded mandate that is a complete failure that has cost billions that could have been better spent....billions to testing companies...a complete crock of shit.

His tax cuts did what? stimulated what?  The right had power for six years and we are now seeing the results of that complete and utter rapeof the country.

The Dems will do the exact same thing if there is not a balance of power.  Absolute power corrupts absolutely.

face it, the right had it for six years and gave us what we have today.

Say whatever you want about Bush, but after you get your precious Obama you will regret it! Buyers remorse will set in, and you won’t be saying anything. I almost look forward to it, however, it is MY country he will be ruining, too.

I wonder if she’ll get the “refundable” tax credit from Bary’s plan as well?  Shhhh don’t call it welfare…
