Obama Supporter: If I Vote For Obama I Won’t Have To Pay For Gas, Pay My Mortgage

I know, I know. One person, one vote. But there are times when I hear people this ignorant when I think…maybe we should have some sort of an aptitude test for voting.

I never thought this day would happen. I won’t have to work on puttin’ gas in my car. I won’t have to work at payin’ my mortgage.
You know. If I help him [Obama], he’s gonna help me.

This is what we’re fast becoming. A nation who don’t long for freedom of opportunity but long for the opportunity for free goodies delivered to us by the government.

This lady is a product of the failing public school system.
When you don’t have invovlement of parents and teachers. Parents have rights and have a voice.

Even if you are a single adult you can help the school system. Propose career days — find companies that can help you. Get the student to mentor with an executive, mechanic, computer analyst-programmer, etc. Get it?

You are involving young people to see how business works and how our economy works. In the meantime, you can encourage these students to continue their education while working too. It’s a win-win for them as well as for business and our economy.

    Sparkie,

Freeloading off the productive members of society is a far more than just “disagree[ing] with Rob”. Surely you can do better than that.

  • 2Hotel9

I have talked to Union members here in PA who say much the same thing. Best part? Other Union members in the conversation told them what complete idiots they are. It is split rather unevenly among this group, a small minority going for Barri, the majority going McC, and a smattering of Paulettes.

  • claire

My Dad carries a mortgage on a house he built many years ago. Last week he called the homeowner to remind her that her payment was overdue. The woman said “the government said we didn’t have to pay our mortgages anymore!”

    She was serious!

  • HG

‘natural freedom’ means you can get effing eaten by the next guy. explain that one to me. how’s that free?

    Sparkie,

You’re just wasting my time here aren’t you? This is ridiculous. According to you the mere existence of another human being means you’re not free. We’re not talking about freedom from natural laws here. Natural freedom doesn’t mean I can defy gravity by jumping off a cliff. There are consequences for violating the laws of nature. Natural restraints cannot infringe upon natural liberty, they are the boundaries within which I may freely act. You define liberty as complete anarchy.

Natural liberty, consists in the power of acting as one thinks fit, without any restraint or control, except from the laws of nature. It is a state of exemption from the control of others, and from positive laws and the institutions of social life. This liberty is abridged by the establishment of government.

maybe we should have some sort of an aptitude test for voting.

That is an interesting idea. But, I know a lot of net tax-payers, who have worked hard, sacrificed their time, sweat, and and tax money to become good citizens. And they expect no more of the government than to just leave them alone. Some of them might have a problem passing a government-sponsored aptitude test.

My thought is to give everyone at least one vote. That would be for people who are negative tax-payers. Then a multiplier is applied to every vote based on the tax contribution they make to this country.

If we take a majority of voters off the tax roles, it won’t be long before people simply vote themselves the largesse of this nation and a false prosperity that is doomed to failure. It’s happening now in Europe and it is coming to a town near you.

False prosperity, it’s called Socialism, it’s called Barrack Obama,it’s called the democrat party.

    Sparkie,

    Sparkie,

Your answer is to offer a hypothetical with an absurd and unprovable assumption as it premise (an intense number of GOP voters)?

Lets lay it out here. You misrepresented Rob’s argument by saying “If you disagree with Rob you shouldn’t vote”. Then you call him a “fascist” for your misrepresentation. You can do better than that.

    – HG

    No he can’t. That’s all he’s got.

  • Old&InTheWay;

Well……I for one am most definitely against socialism, as it is truly defined, but I am also against hypocrisy, under informed decision making, and bad audio quality. (also cats in the house and the designated hitter rule, but that’s for another topic)…From where I’m sitting, armed with some pretty serious Bose headphones and JBL studio speakers at my disposal, it appears to my ears that the lady in question is saying “worry”. How you interpret what she means by “worry” is up to the individual voter, but people will believe what they want to believe……

  • di butler

    Why Rob?

Why does taking an aptitude test to vote have to be a joke? Why is it unconstitutional? Is it really right for me to pay in the top tax bracket and have some idiot like this woman cancel out my vote? Sorry, I don’t see it that way. I am very generous with the money I make, but I am very tired of my tax money going to people like this. I don’t know her, I had rather choose who I help with my money. People I know who are trying very hard, but need help. This video makes me livid.

    Why do you hate America?

  • NBourbaki

The really sad thing is that this is a truly accurate version of the Great Leader’s best argument for your vote.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/entry/some_hints/ AKAJOEL

“As the late Nobel laureate Elias Canetti observes in his great book, “Crowds and Power” (first published in 1960), the crowd is based on an illusion of equality: Its quest is for that moment when “distinctions are thrown off and all become equal.

It is for the sake of this blessed moment, when no one is greater or better than another, that people become a crowd.” These crowds, in the tens of thousands, who have been turning out for the Democratic standard-bearer in St. Louis and Denver and Portland, are a measure of American distress.

But the morning after the election, the disappointment will begin to settle upon the Obama crowd.

Defeat–by now unthinkable to the devotees–will bring heartbreak.

Victory will steadily deliver the sobering verdict that our troubles won’t be solved by a leader’s magic.”

FOUAD AJAMI @ Wall Street Journal

  • David

This is the vote for a living crowd I have talked about for about 10 years now.
    Makes me sick

  • Bob

This message is for Realitybasedbob – you are such an ignorant individual it is sad. I agree that the Republicans haven’t been perfect, but don’t try pulling that “the mess of the economy is Bush’s fault” nonsense. You know and I know that this was caused by the Democrats for the most part. Maybe the Republicans had a little to do with it, but VERY little. The Democratic party used to stand for the working man, but it has become a collection of snobbish, rich, out of touch elitist lawyers who don’t give a rat’s ass about Joe the Plumber or any other average guy or gal.
And if Obama gets elected, he is going to radically alter the face of this country – and NOT in a good way. So you Bush hating leftist libs – enjoy your American life while you can because you are not going to recognize it in 3-4 years. And your wives better start practicing to wear a burqa. Goodbye freedom and hello socialism/islamization.

  • HG

Actually Joe it was “I won’t have to work at putting gas in my car, I won’t have to worry about paying my mortgage”. Either way she expects Obamas going to help her not have to worry or work.

This is sad. Another victim of government redistribution. Another opportunity lost. This lady will likely never realize her potential and will instead be beholden to the government.

And you all thought slavery was over in America.

  • Old&InTheWay;

I know just enough economics to know what I don’t know…my vote is twofold: My own personal savings in taxes when I did the math under McCains plan vs. Obama’s, and while I don’t profess to have enough knowledge or foresight to truly forecast the outcome, I do know from my own situation what the current leadership (which shares a pretty significant agreement with the voting record of McCain) has done to my savings and investments. I refuse to be scared off, diverted, or filled with imaginary or projected doomsday scenarios. I read both candidates positions, did the math, checked my gut, and made my decision.

  • di butler

    HG,

You are exactly right! It is disgraceful what the Democratic party has done to minorities. They have destroyed their families. Food stamps, aid to families w/ dependent children, and medicaid have made it to where there doesn’t have to be any accountability.Black women and men aren’t getting married. The kids either have a dad who breezes in and out of their lives, or not on at all. Before all of the government programs, the families stayed intact, for the most part. If you remember, these programs were instituted after the war as a stop-gap measure. They were never meant to be a permanent part of our government. So, a lot of minorities pass this government takes care of us mentality on to each generation. How can you really blame them, to a degree? Most don’t see anything wrong with this, because it’s how they were raised. So, you’ve got all of these minorities who have all these kids, but no responsibility for them. Then democrats come in and tell them we are the ones who will save you. Obama can start them off with his new socialized child care and socialized medical care, so they have no real incentive to ever do anything else. And that, in 2008, is a crying shame.

  • Hawk

Did you watch the video, and then have enough nerve to call people looking for a solution idiots?

It doesn’t need a solution. If you are a citizen you can vote. Any other policy is unamerican.

  • grey horse

Charismatic demagogues bring out the best in people. Just ask the people who elected the fascist Mussolini, who was praised for making the trains run on time. And national socialist Hitler, who made the people who elected him so proud to be Germans. Japan’s Emperor Hirohito brought Japan into the industrial age, along with a few complications of expansion. In all cases, little did the people know how their charismatic demagogue leader would accomplish their bits of magic.

Demagogues comes in all shades and colors, but people’s stupidity seems to stay about the same.

  • Ms. Denny Wright

It’s sad to think about the Obama supporters who have shown their ignorance again and again. I’m sure that’s why he targets them. They want to hear how he will save them from themselves and their own responsibilities. If he is elected, God forbid, their will be many of his fans that will be saying after about a year, “what was I thinking?”. If you read the last book of the Bible, Revelations, it describes a false prophet, of Muslim descent, in his 40′s, that will speak to the masses and promise them things he will not be able to follow through on. All I can say at this point is, God saves and protect us from the evil”.

Wow! Is that what Obama meant by spreading the wealth? He is going to pay for our mortgages and gas?

  • Old&InTheWay;

    Whatever happened to American self-reliance?

I don’t know, you will get no argument from me that it seems to be in short supply these days, I will most definitely agree with you there…I truly believe that there needs to be more self reliance, but after years of seeing the deck stacked against the average citizen, and a month of actually READING both candidates tax plans, I just have to say I know which man I’m backing next week…..

I am not for sale! I don’t want goodies from Big Sugar Daddy. I want a job, low prices on the goods that I buy, and my self-respect. Thank You very much.

BTW, I agree with the person who said that aptitude tests should make a comeback. An uninformed voter is a dangerous voter.

Here is my idea. A voter should receive training in the same way that drivers do. There should be a primer that goes with every voter registration briefing the potential voter on such must basic facts such as who is actually in control of Congress* etc etc.

Then these voters will have to take a quiz and pass before they can vote.

*I can’t remember the exact percentage of people who believe that Republicans currently control Congress but it was an alarming number.

    Eric,

    You have stated the point.
In this country, Congress has relieved between 40-50 per cent of wage-earners from paying Federal Income Tax over the past few decades.
This creates a vast constituent base who then can be driven by corrupt democrat politicians to believe you are entitled to more than simply not paying Federal Income Tax. Get a check back from the Feds for not paying Income taxes. The Federal Government: I am your keeper, and I am also your great Suppressor. Even the kept people will soon be suppressed. Tell me where this has worked in the world.

  • Mark

How can anyone be this ignorant and selfish?? I swear, we need some sort of voter IQ test so people like this can’t vote. This is absolutely outrageous.

Please, I’m begging you, get out there and vote and make sure every sensible person you know votes. Drag them to the polls if necessary. The only way to stop the socialization of America is to overwhelm the polls with intelligent, informed voters. I pray America has more sense than this woman demonstrates.

    Um,

There used to be testing before being able to vote. It was ruled unconstitutional. Intelligence and schooling are not a requirement to vote. However, do not get me wrong, there is something wrong with voting unintelligently. Its like letting the tenants determine what the rent, repairs, furniture and all other issues of an apartment building are. They will vote for what is best for them, unlike the owner, custodian or otherwise individual relying on the buildings existance for their well being. If the building collapses, the tenants go somewhere else and live under someone elses rules. The people relying for their financial security will vote what is best for all sides for the building’s continued existence. They will vote intelligently.

We have to figure a way to get productive American citizens back in charge.

Anything promised as free, such as with Obama, will create an instant, unlimited demand. The supply will be exhausted faster than common sense at at an Obama political rally.

  • HG

I also don’t agree with the false premise that any wealth redistribution is inherently anti-Freedom.

    Sparkie,

It is. The existence of government infringes upon natural liberty in any form. The cold hard reality is without a government to preserve and protect liberty most will not experience it.

Civil liberty, is the liberty of men in a state of society, or natural liberty, so far only abridged and restrained, as is necessary and expedient for the safety and interest of the society, state or nation. A restraint of natural liberty, not necessary or expedient for the public, is tyranny or oppression. Civil liberty is an exemption from the arbitrary will of others, which exemption is secured by established laws, which restrain every man from injuring or controlling another. Hence the restraints of law are essential to civil liberty.

    Websters 1828

There is a difference between civil liberty and natural liberty.

You misrepresented Rob’s argument by saying “If you disagree with Rob you shouldn’t vote”.

I misrepresented it only slightly. The call for the aptitude test emerged from a partisan point. Not everyone in this country shares Rob’s protestant work ethic. If you bust your ass your whole life, you only catch it in passing, on the way out. While I don’t agree with the idea that everyone in this country has a right to a car and a house to own, I also don’t agree with the false premise that any wealth redistribution is inherently anti-Freedom. That is a pure bullshit line. Its based on political theory that emerged as a strengthened version of Adam Smith, et al during the 40s-60s in response to the Russians. Do you think Hayek would have been so keen on his arguments if the Russians weren’t providing him with an antithesis to argue against? What we now see is an invoking of theory, by y’all, when its politically precipitous… and then we see, contrarily, appeals to pragmatics, reality… when the coin is turned, again used as is politically precipitous.

Settle down. Recognize that military spending, the GWOT, etc. require huge amounts of redistribution, indeed SOCIAL ENGINEERING is they are to be brought off. You just and up talking out two sides of your confused mouth. Freedom indeed! Let’s begin by defining that in a non-equivocating, self-politically precipitous manner. Until then its just pissing in the wind.
