Obama Suddenly Outraged By Wright, Says His Pastor’s “Rants” Show Disrespect For Americans

Funny he didn’t have this reaction at any time in the last two decades while he was sitting in church listening to Wright rant about the American government creating HIV to kill off black people.

Barack Obama is holding a remarkable press conference right now about Rev. Jeremiah Wright. Obama is angry. Wright’s “rants,” he said, were “a show of disrespect to me,” and have created a “spectacle.”

“I felt as if there was a complete disregard for what the American people are going through and the need for them to rally together to solve these problems. It not is the time for us not to get distracted, now is the time for us to pull together.”

Here’s some video of Obama denouncing Wright:

And Obama saying that Wright “isn’t the person I met 20 years ago.”

I couldn’t possibly be less impressed.  Obama is angry about Wright now

Please.

Obama’s only angry because Wright has become inconvenient for his campaign.  And Obama saying that Wright “isn’t the person” he met “20 years ago?” C’mon.  According to Wikipedia:

In late 2007, Wright was appointed to Barack Obama’s African American Religious Leadership Committee…

If Wright isn’t the man Obama first met two decades ago, then why was Obama appointing him to committees just last year?  Why did Obama give a speech at the 2004 convention that was named after one of Wright’s sermons?  Why did Obama release a book with the same name as that speech, The Audacity of Hope, in 2006?

It seems to me that the only point in his life that Obama has been angered by Rev. Jeremiah “God Damn America” Wright is when Wrights “rants” (as Obama himself described them) became public and inconvenient for Obama’s political aspirations.

Meaning that Obama’s present denunciations of the person he once considered his spiritual leader and mentor are insincere, at best.

Comments

I completely agree rob. Obama is only denouncing Wright not because he is hurting his campaign and Wright saying that he will come after Obama once he becomes president.  Wright doesn’t look like a friend to me.

Maybe Obama said that Wright is not the person he was a year and a half ago, although anyone with a brain can see that Wright hasn’t changed.  Obama is not the savior everyone one thought he was.

The sad thing is, Obama will survive this.  Even Fox News is giving him the benefit of the doubt is the analysis of his mea culpa.  The liberal troops (i.e., the MSM) will rally around him for his “courage” to criticize Wright.  Consider this Obama’s “Sister Soulja” moment.

Obama is ‘outraged’ today. Gee...some of us have damn cranky for quite a few weeks now.

SADIE Says So on April 29, 2008 at 02:38 pm

I didn’t sense any real outrage by Obama through his tone or body language. That is just my opinion, but it all seemed fairly monotone and absent any passion or reality to me.

Further, he babbled and had a hard time finding the right words, which makes a lie of his much praised oratorical skills and causes me to doubt much soul searching and working out a well crafted response on his part.

Lastly, I disagree with Obama distancing himself from Wright today, which seems to be a cold political move. If Wright has been his friend, spiritual advisor and mentor for over 20 years, what kind of a man throws his long time, close friend overboard just because they have major disagreements over certain matters, no matter how severe the disagreement? It seems to me it would have shown more character to show some real passionate disagreements with what Wright seems to believe on some key issues, while still pledging his personal affection for a friend. How can the country trust someone that can so easily turn against a dear friend?

No matter the age or state of health, for a military man it is always glorious to tilt at windmills, rescue a fair Dulcinea and be a gallant knight in armor in a glorious cause.

That is Obama’s cross to bear and it is because he liked Wright and ignored the evidence that he must find a way to distance himself from him and any reminders by his supporters about Wright destroy that distance.

Neiman on March 29, 2008 at 09:33 am

…he did not leave this ugly, hate filled ministry and he still refuses to distance himself in any real way from the man behind these wicked comments. So, it appears Obama really agrees with this Afro-Centric, anti-Caucasion and European philosophy and therefore his candidacy should be judged on that basis, no.?

Neiman on March 13, 2008 at 05:07 pm

When an association spans two decades, the candidate refers to his pastor as his mentor and that mentor/pastor is an anti-American racist of the worst kind, we must ask why Obama would continue that association

Pparets, this is just for you and to set the record straight on my feelings in this matter, while not paying any attention to RBB’s nonsense on the issue.

At first flush when this story first broke, I thought Obama needed to distance himself from Wright in the most severe manner possible, if we were to believe he truly repudiated Wrights extremist views. On further reflection, I felt that an honorable man would not throw a real friend under the bus, but would choose to reject the extremist views of his friend while maintaining the same friendly affections for him that he felt for 20 years. It is the old hate the sin and love the sinner duality; that is, hate Wright’s views and not hate his friend.

I am often thus forced to look at this untidy world. I want to reject that which I believe is harmful, while maintaining the belief that every human being is worthy of redemption. It is a difficult way to view the world at times, but there it is. Example: I fought very hard to bring down a man at work that sexually harassed and otherwise hurt men he worked with, as I needed to defend his victims at their request, but if he came to me and I felt he sincerely regretted what he did and needed my help in another matter, I would probably help him just as passionately as I once fought against him, as I believe everyone deserves redemption.

Kenny,

Lets get a few things straight.  There are a few people here who can engauge in rational debate when they are in the mood.  Resaonble dialouge occurs between us in those rare circumstances.

You were on the offensive in this thread, as was Doc.  I struck back.

Also, you seem to be confused about “who” is “what” Kenny.  So let me clear it up for you.

Last week proof called me a dick.  And its no secret that I believe Rob is an asshole, and that Proof is a pussy.

Pussy’s don’t like dicks, because pussies get fucked by dicks.  But dicks also fuck assholes.  Assholes who just want to shit on everything.

Pussies may think they can deal with assholes their way, but the only thing that can fuck an asshole is a dick,… with some balls.

The problem with dicks is sometimes they fuck too much, or fuck when it isn’t appropriate.  And it takes a pussy to show them that.  But sometimes pussies get so full of shit that they become assholes themselves.  Because pussies are only an inch and half away from assholes.

If you guys just once tried to listen to your Democrat guests instead of shitting all over them all of the time, maybe things will change?  But until then, I am going to defensively counter-attack those folks who insult democrats and liberals unjustly.

I am pretty certain that only RBB and myself agreed to the pact and encouraged others to join, only to be ignored so that they could continue to insult.

Your words would carry more weight if they meant something.
