Obama Signs Bill To Force Taxpapyers To Advertise For Disney, Orbitz

And the bill does it, as I’ve mentioned before, by creating the Fannie Mae of the travel industry. In fact, one of the chief lobbyists for this bill was a former flak for Fannie Mae. A government-sponsored “corporation” that is funded by the taxpayers and will advertise for all the big travel industry giants like Disney, Orbitz and Anheuser-Busch that spent a truckload of money lobbying for it.

WASHINGTON (AP) President Barack Obama has signed a bill creating a program to promote the U.S. as a premier tourism destination for international travelers.
The U.S. Travel Association calls it a major step in addressing the drop-off in such visits to the U.S. during the past decade. The association says the U.S. welcomed 2.4 million fewer overseas visitors last year than in 2000. And that, the group says, has cost it an estimated $509 billion in total spending and $32 billion in direct tax receipts.
Government and private industry would evenly split the program’s costs, with Washington contributing up to $100 million a year. That money will come from a $10 fee paid by foreigners who do not pay for visas to enter the U.S.

Because nothing makes more sense than promoting tourism by taxing tourists, right?
The nation is bankrupt, and we’re subsidizing ads for travel industry mega corporations.
What a joke.

And why can’t these companies advertise for themselves? What difference does it make in getting the word out if the govt is “paying” versus the business? This is the exact opposite of what Dems claim over and over again, this is in fact Corporate Welfare which allows these companies to pad their pockets by reducing their advertising costs.

    Hypocrite much?

If you could devise a plan to destroy the country that was any better in likelihood to actually succeed… I would like to know what it is.

A direct invasion would be met with the highest forms of resistance, but spend us into oblivion and you actually find half of the population cheering it on. WTF????

You know… At least these corporations don’t make obscene profits or
bonuses for their executives, like those EVIL oil companies do.

For 2009 Disney took a paultry 15.5% net pre-tax profit margin, while the
EVIL Exxon took a disgusting 6.33%.

SICK! We need to make the oil companies pay most of the Advertizing budget
for companies like Disney! After all… greedy EVIL oil companies are
going to make tons of money from the travel too.
