Obama Pick For Department Of Labor Was Member Of Socialist Organization

Not that it matters. Obama was a candidate with a derivative of this same organization and we still elected him President.

The man recently appointed to President-elect Barack Obama’s economic transition team was a bona fide member of a major U.S. socialist organization, according to literature from the group.
Former Rep. David Bonior, D-Mich., reportedly being considered for the Labor secretary position in the incoming Obama administration, has had a longstanding close relationship with the Democratic Socialists of America, or DSA, an organization dedicated to transforming America into a socialist society.
Now WND has learned the DSA’s official newsletter in 2007 identified Bonior as a DSA member at the organization’s Boston branch. Neither the DSA in Boston nor Bonior returned repeated WND calls seeking comment. Obama’s transition team did not return a phone call or e-mail inquiry.

We are getting awfully, awfully comfortable with people who subscribe to socialist ideologies.
That’s not a good thing.

Delay, while he was indicted, is still innocent until proven guilty.
It’s a process we use in America.
A process which, in fact, has been granted to many on the left, as well.
The name jefferson comes to mind……
Of course, this all PALES in the face of the guy that’s in charge of the Ways & Means Committee can’t even fill out his forms correctly?
    How very convenient…..
Of course, this cut& paste exercise by you has no bearing on the price of tea in China.
    Just the leftist puke points.

Using the logic I see displayed here, the economy was responding to the election of bush by falling into recession.

Isn’t that what you brainstems say about Obama lately? Or does that only work in your favor?

    That is so funny!

I can point out many more capitalist countries that are full of poor people. This one for example with 15% poverty (and rising due to republicans). Or how about South America. 40-60% poverty rates.

Socialists don’t stifle individual spirit, they encourage cooperation. Just like your employer. You work for a company and they want you to think like a socialist. “Work together to enrich my income”. Except socialism encourages cooperation to all work together. That’s how the military works and indeed all successful operations work. That’s how we got to the moon-cooperation. (something the commies did BEFORE we did. their weaponry was more advanced than ours too) That’s how we developed our defenses-cooperation. That’s how we led the world in medicine-cooperation.

Capitalism stymies innovation by encouraging the selfish habits of protecting intellectual property that could be built upon by others.

Radical individualism means we all starve alone. Collectivism means we work together to avoid that.

    Let’s send Dino to Iran.

Then the little perv will find the true meaning of being stoned.

As the first rocks bounce off his head, maybe, just maybe, it will occur to him how much better off he is in a political system that tolerates his Karposied, pustulent existence and doesn’t snuff it out like totalitarian regimes do as policy.

  • Dino

Yes, but that doesn’t change the fact that the recession occurred under Bush.

As for the number of people supposedly destroyed by socialism: that’s bullshit. Every time I hear that line of talk the number increases. 50 million, 100 million, a gazillion, a gazillion trillion.

Capitalism supporters have always needed to demonize a system that is not only more fair but more humane. Not only that, have you ever thought about the death and misery caused by capitalism? Religion? Probably many more than you can hang on socialism.

  • socialistsexgod19

I’M a socialist and being a member of some socialist org. doesn’t make you a socialist. obama may be further to the left than any president before him, but he is still bourgeois. his economic plans, though they benefit the poor marginally more than previous ones, are still built to keep capitalism functional. the fact that he supports more welfare benefits is just a bonus, meant to appease the poor. obama may bring america closer to socialism, but the shift will be measured in inches, not miles. the revolution is yet to come.

  • NoJelly

I’m trying to think of just one truly “socialist” country that isn’t full of poor people…Lesssee, North Korea…Nope…Venezuala…Nope…China…Nope…USSR…Nope…Cuba…Nope…VietNam…Nope…

But no, we gotta hear about these “socialist lite” countries like Sweeden as shining examples, YET THEY ARE NOT QUITE SOCIALIST, are they…Sure, closer than the US, for the moment, but they still allow entrepenuers to succeed–True socialists strive to stifle the individual spirit, and in those countries I challenge you amatuers to show me a successful socialist citizen who isn’t either a member of the government or blowing them, ala Dino…

    Dino Diane:

During Bush’s eight years in office, the United States has fallen into two recessions. The first one started in March 2001 and ended in November of that year.

Which officially started less than two months after Bush’s innauguration.

Only a liberal idiot like Dino Diane would assume that meant it was Bush’s fault.

  • Dino

Toes? LOL that was unitentioanally funny.

But back to the topic: So what? Could it be any worse that what the present capitalist has done? Just posted story:

    Bush acknowledges recession, automakers’ troubles

WASHINGTON — President George W. Bush publicly acknowledged for the first time Friday that the U.S. economy is in a recession and worried aloud that Detroit’s Big Three automakers may not all survive their mounting troubles.

At 12 months, the current recession is already the longest since a severe 16-month slump in 1981-82. Many economists say this downturn will ultimately set a new record for the post-World War II period.

During Bush’s eight years in office, the United States has fallen into two recessions. The first one started in March 2001 and ended in November of that year.

What a proud moment this must be for bush supporters!

    Republicans have strict ethics rules?

    HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!

Here’s a few articles from 2005, a banner year for republican scandals while the ehtics committee UNDER REPUBLICAN CONTROL was sitting on its hands:

House ethics panel lapses at an awkward time

After Retreat, G.O.P. Changes House Ethics Rule

House ethics committee sees no evil

The republicans hobbled the ethics committee just like they hobbled the regulation of the financial markets allowing them and their friends to run amok with impunity. it’s a good thing, though. The republican scandals of the 2000-2006 era gave democrats control of Congress.

I’d say Obama is a huge capitalist. He certainly didn’t inherit this economy, he purchased it with $200 million dollars and he he knew exactly what he was buying. And just like the Clinton’s, when he leaves office he will be far wealthier than when he began.

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/readers/entry/homosexuality_is_wrong_-_a_compendium move_zig

    I’m a Socialist

You don’t say that with a great deal of shame and self-revulsion?

    You should.

Among the variations of Socialism, in their Russian, German, Chinese and countless other kinds of this political disease, over 100 million people have been starved, tortured, frozen, worked, shot, hacked or stabbed to death by the Party Faithful in steaming jungles, in the killing fields, in frozen GULAGs or isolated Lao Gai, or strictly-ordered Konzentrazionslager wherever the hammer and sickle, the blood-red flag of National Socialism or the Red Star has flown, perhaps more — much, much more.

    The Black Book of Communism

Argument that described political systems were not “communist”

In the introduction to the Black Book, Stéphane Courtois argued that “there will always be some nitpickers who maintain that actual communism has nothing in common with theoretical communism.”(p. 2) For the purpose of the book, a communist state is defined as a one-party state where the ruling party openly proclaims its adherence to Marxism-Leninism.

Courtois writes in the conclusion that belief in Marxist ideology, with its claims of scientific truth and utopian ultimate society, justified and contributed to the mass terror. According to Courtois, mass terror was the only way for a regime only supported by a small minority to stay in power and apply its radically different “scientific” doctrines. He argues that in Communism there also exists a form of social Darwinism where obsolete and damaging social institutions and classes are to be replaced by a utopian society and in essence a new human species (the “new man”). Eliminating such damaging and inferior obstacles is thus seen as both scientific and justified.

To say that you are a socialist in the face of socialism’s bloody history can only tell us that you are an utter fool, or utterly evil.

No good, thinking person, could ever call themselves a Socialist.

  • Hungry Bear

Are we sure that he was actually a member of a socialist organization, or did he just let other kids play with his toes?

  • Theo

I’m trying to think of just one truly “socialist” country that isn’t full of poor people…Lesssee, North Korea…Nope…Venezuala…Nope…China…Nope…USSR…Nope…Cuba…Nope…VietNam…

you realize that capitalist countries like the US, Canada, etc have their fair share of poor people as well, right?

you had poor people in Cuba before it went communist, you had poor people in Vietnam before it went communist; you certainly had poor people in China before it went communist

the economic system in a country does not preclude poverty among its citizens; the most capitalistic systems in history still had poor people, and usually they made up the majority of the population; those who profited were most the upper class who had the capital to invest while the lower classes were those who provided the labor; its only been recently when you had large segments of a country’s population able to move from lower class to middle and middle to upper; that was unheard of for probably a good chunk of human history

  • http://sayanythingblog.com/ likwidshoe

you realize that capitalist countries like the US, Canada, etc have their fair share of poor people as well, right?

“Poor” and “poverty” in America is pretty damn rich.

…the most capitalistic systems in history still had poor people…

And they always will. It’s not much of a point. The poor will always be with us because poverty of action and mind aren’t going away. Such a thing is intrinsic to human nature. There will always be some…

The socialists look at our economy, the one with the biggest amount of rich “poor” people, and say the system fails because it is not “more fair” or “more humane” than big mommy government making the shots. The socialists call what happened under the old USSR as “cooperation”, not noticing that “cooperation” meant that most people didn’t have a car, couldn’t even afford blue jeans, and were dirt poor. But at least they were “cooperating”! Socialists are just fucked in the head, refusing delivery of reality.

    Happy reading Tex:

From 2006 Part 1 (there’s been more since):

“Jack Abramoff: The disgraced “super-lobbyist” has been nailed for wire fraud, and is cooperating in the investigation into the bribing four Republican members of congress.

Rep. Tom DeLay (R-Texas): Once the most powerful man in the House of Representatives, Texas congressman DeLay now stands indicted on three counts of money laundering, charges stemming from his all-out attempt to secure a permanent Republican majority in the House. His story isn’t finished; the Abramoff investigators have been sniffing around his door for months now.

Rep. Bob Ney (R-Ohio): Ney has pleaded guilty to accepting bribes from Jack Abramoff. Ney pulled #4 out of the bag of GOP excuses above, announcing that he has entered a rehab clinic for alcohol addiction.

Tony Rudy: Once the deputy chief of staff for Tom DeLay, Rudy has pleaded guilty to bribing a Republican House member, said member widely assumed to be Bob Ney. Rudy also pleaded guilty to accepting bribes from Abramoff in return for favorable actions on Abramoff’s behalf by his former boss.

Mike Scanlon: Another Republican lobbyist and former DeLay press secretary, Scanlon has pleaded guilty to stealing millions of dollars from Native American tribes, on whose behalf he was supposed to be lobbying Congress regarding casinos. Scanlon is also cooperating with federal investigators.

Rep. Randy Cunningham (R-Calif.): The California congressman has pleaded guilty to accepting $2.5 million in bribes, in exchange for steering federal contracts to a number of defense firms. Cunningham is currently staring down the barrel of eight years in prison.

Rep. Mark Foley (R-Fla.): There isn’t much more to say about this fellow, who has joined Rep. Ney in the I’m-an-alcoholic-going-to-rehab club.

Rep. Dennis Hastert (R-Ill.): Long considered to be little more than the mush-mouthed front man for Tom DeLay, Speaker of the House Hastert has found himself swept up in the Foley scandal. Several fellow congressmen have said that they warned Hastert about Foley’s improper behavior, but nothing was done about it until the Foley emails went public. The watchword for today is “cover-up.”

  • Dino

    Part 2:

    I. Lewis Libby: Cheney’s former chief of staff, “Scooter” Libby, has been indicted on five counts of lying to investigators regarding the outing of deep-cover CIA agent Valerie Plame.

David Safavian: Once the head of the White House Office of Federal Procurement, Safavian has been convicted of four counts of lying to investigators regarding a bribe he took from Abramoff.

Claude Allen: Formerly a domestic policy advisor to the White House, Allen was arrested for shoplifting thousands of dollars worth of merchandise from various retail stores.

Brian Doyle: Formerly the Department of Homeland Security’s deputy press secretary, Doyle was arrested for attempting to seduce a 14-year-old girl over the internet.

James Tobin: Tobin, who served as the northeast field director for the Republican Senate Campaign Committee, has been convicted on two counts of conspiracy stemming from a phone-jamming scheme in New Hampshire during the 2002 midterms. Tobin made dozens of phone calls during this time to the White House political affairs office. He was sentenced to ten months in prison.

Susan Ralston: An aide to White House political advisor Karl Rove, Ralston resigned recently after her multiple meetings with Jack Abramoff became public knowledge. Ralston was also in the habit of accepting gifts, such as tickets to sporting events, from the disgraced lobbyist.

Rep. John Doolittle (R-Calif.): Doolittle hasn’t been convicted of anything yet, but has rolled out the “not a target” line regarding the investigation into Abramoff’s bribery scheme.

Sen. Conrad Burns (R-Mont.): Like Doolittle, Burns has deployed the “not a target” line regarding the Abramoff probe. He is, however, apparently a “target” of the probe, a fact that has his staffers splitting rhetorical hairs at warp speed.

Rep. Jim Kolbe (R-Ariz.): Rep. Dale Kildee, the only Democrat on the House Page Board, dropped an interesting brick the other day. While commenting on a conference call between page board members regarding “other allegations” beyond those directed at Rep. Foley, Kildee said, “It was about other allegations and I’d like to leave it at that. Let me just say, not about Mr. Foley.” These “other allegations” appear to be augering towards Rep. Kolbe, who took two former pages on a camping trip several years ago. A federal investigation has been opened to look into the matter.

Sen. Bill Frist (R-Tenn.): The senate majority leader is currently under investigation by the SEC for seemingly taking advantage of insider information to make a killing on stocks, the company attached to said stocks being owned by his family.

Lester Crawford: Once the Bush administration’s FDA commissioner, Crawford has been charged in federal court for conflict of interest, and for making false statements related to his investments. He recently pleaded guilty to the charges.

Rep. Curt Weldon (R-Pa.): The home of Weldon’s daughter was raided by federal investigators on Monday. The investigators are looking hard at her lobbying firm, and whether her well-connected father improperly steered business her way. Weldon has pulled out #2 above, laying the whole thing off on a Democratic plot to destroy him.

Tom Noe: A four-star Republican fund-raiser in Ohio, Noe has just gone on trial for stealing millions from a fund for injured workers and spending it on himself.”
