Obama Now Promising To “Create Or Save” 4 Million Jobs Which Will Be A Bargain At $193,750 Per Job

This is up from the 3 million new/saved jobs promised to mandate just a couple of weeks ago, and way up from the 2.5 million he promised to save/create during the campaign.

In a new report, his transition team says his spending plan would create between 3.3 million and 4.1 million jobs. The report was released as Mr. Obama battles fellow Democrats in Congress over the size and details of the bill, which the president-elect wants to total slightly less than $800 billion but which some Democratic leaders say should near $1 trillion.
The Obama report says that even with a recovery package, unemployment will still be 7 percent at the end of 2010, but would be 8.8 percent without a recovery. Mr. Obama earlier in the week had warned of double-digit unemployment, but the report does not appear to back that claim.

How’s Obama gonna do this? With $775 billion worth of new government spending (nearly 5% of our GDP) on things like CFL light bulbs, of course. Which, if it works (and it won’t) would mean that each new job would cost American taxpayers $193,750 per job.
Not exactly a bargain, but I guess this is the “change we can believe in” America voted for.

There will be plenty of “sacrifice” to go around, Rob. A few weeks before the election, Krugman (and the awful Ben Stein) was on Larry King. As he clearly explained, “taxing the rich more isn’t enough” because there just isn’t enough potential revenue to fund their big plans. Besides, even if top marginal rates were the only ones to increase, that would still cause plenty of pain for other lower income workers — it just won’t be as obvious.

2.5 million he promised to save/create during

not save, create. he said he was going to make 3M new jobs. he needs to back that up.

    “shared sacrifice”

I doubt that is gonna catch on…better run some more BS by the focus groups, do some more polling and try again.

“shared sacrifice” sounds like tossing the virgin into the volcano and then passing around the remains as dinner.

He’s attempting to put out the fire that republicans set and then walked away. I know how you’d prefer he sit there and allow the economy to sink further so you can get political mileage out of it.

And actually, he hasn’t even taken office yet. There’s still an idiot in there who took us down the path of economic ruin. You remember him, right? Inarticulate, arrogant, stupid. You know, like most conservatives.

Can any Obama supporter justify or explain what Obama is doing here?

    *looks through the thread*

Apparently not. All we get is insults.

So much for “hope” and “change”.

Look at the people who supported the losers mock Obama.

What kind of people are so arrogant that they can’t see how their voting patterns are what caused the recession?

Ridicule away, losers. We know you have no idea how to fix the mess you’ve caused. That’s why republicans have no power left.

Mr. Obama, government does NOT create jobs. Government does not “save” jobs. Government creates and saves only one thing and that’s MORE government. Your plan is worse than insane. It’s criminal.

And now, a little much-needed Ronald Reagan (Oct. 27, 1964):

“Welfare spending is 10 times greater than in the dark depths of the Depression. We are spending $45 billion on welfare. Now do a little arithmetic, and you will find that if we divided the $45 billion up equally among those 9 million poor families, we would be able to give each family $4,600 a year, and this added to their present income should eliminate poverty! Direct aid to the poor, however, is running only about $600 per family. It would seem that someplace there must be some overhead.

… Now, do they honestly expect us to believe that if we add $1 billion to the $45 billion we are spending…one more program to the 30-odd we have–and remember, this new program doesn’t replace any, it just duplicates existing programs–do they believe that poverty is suddenly going to disappear by magic? Well, in all fairness I should explain that there is one part of the new program that isn’t duplicated. This is the youth feature. We are now going to solve the dropout problem, juvenile delinquency, by reinstituting something like the old CCC camps, and we are going to put our young people in camps, but again we do some arithmetic, and we find that we are going to spend each year just on room and board for each young person that we help $4,700 a year! We can send them to Harvard for $2,700! Don’t get me wrong. I’m not suggesting that Harvard is the answer to juvenile delinquency.”

God help us all come January 20.

There is no way he can just creat 600,000 new government jobs. I don’t see it anyways. There is way he can creat 3.5 Million private sector jobs if he plans on really socking it to the rich.

  • http://www.valleydeals.com/cgi-bin/board2/YaBB.pl Kevin

How can I get in on that gravy train?

    Harvard for $2,700!

???? It costs eight times that to send a kid to UW-Madison.

    it’s now 4 million jobs…seems the 3 mil number wasn’t impressing anyone.

can I get 5 mil, 5 going once, 5 going 2x…SOLD..the biggest bunch of BS since Clinton spunked on Monica.

Echoing Mickey’s post: just send every American a check for that amount.

Our economic problems would be over, overnight.

why so tight with the purse strings. send everyone $1M (US). we will all be rich and will no longer need to work.

If redistributing taxpayer money could solve economic problems, that would be the only system we would need. In fact, it doesn’t work; it doesn’t produce economic growth. Only “free people making free choices”, applying capital to labor and raw materials for a profit, can do that. There is no substitute.

    Shared sacrifice?

That’s just a code term for Marxism used by the Marxist ruling elite.

  • Robert

if you would just get rid of all the bible believing idiots like me
none of this would be happening

you have to know that once every single person that believes
    in the christian god

and the bible is gone from this planet
people that believe in these things like I do

once we are all gone you will have your perfect world
    with no racicm no sickness
    no disease

and gays will never kill gays
    and blacks will love whites

babies will be able to be killed right after their born
    abortions are so expensive anyways

so just get rid of the bible believers
and your world will be perfect

He’ll just force (draft) a few million people into his “civilian ‘service’ corps” program and that will “solve” the unemployment problem.

Oh yeah Obama’s camapign financiers George Soros, Oprah Winfrey, Warren Buffet, Bill Gates, George Clooney are really going to sacrifice their share with anyone.

What Obama really means to say is that we will have to sacrifice everything in order to keep the Oligarchy in the lifestyle to which they are accustomed.

Atlas Shrugged, and we all will suffer.

  • syn

The only business Government knows is how to seize prosperity, not recreate it.

Seriously, does the incoming President honestly think that the multitude of very-soon to be unemployed NYC Broadway/off-Bway/off-off Bway actors, dancers, writers, musicians, stage hands and critics are going to pick up a shovel and dig dirt for a few dollars a day?

  • http://sayanythingblog.com robport

Obama was on ABC this morning yammering about “shared sacrifice.”

    Shared sacrifice?

You know, I wouldn’t have a problem with that if it were true. But Obama doesn’t really want us all to share the burdens of government. He wants to narrow the tax base even further, raising taxes on those who already pay the most, in order to fund welfare checks from the IRS for those who pay little or nothing in taxes.

    That’s not “shared sacrifice.”
