Obama: Not THAT Deathcamp. The OTHER Death Camp. And, Oh Yeah….. It Was My Great Uncle

Somebody must have clued Obama in:

“Senator Obama’s family is proud of the service of his grandfather and uncles in World War II — especially the fact that his great uncle was a part of liberating one of the concentration camps at Buchenwald,” Obama spokesman Bill Burton said in a statement. “Yesterday he mistakenly referred to Auschwitz instead of Buchenwald in telling of his personal experience of a soldier in his family who served heroically.”

The campaign said his great uncle, Charlie Payne, served in the 89th Infantry Division, and that the unit was among those to liberate Ohrdruf on April 4, 1945.

According to the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum Web site, Ohrdruf was the first Nazi concentration camp liberated by U.S. troops in Germany. The site said the 89th Infantry Division was later recognized as a “liberating unit” by the museum and the Army’s Center of Military History.

Oh. Well, that explains it. It was just a factual mix-up.

I don’t have any real problems with that - but I wonder just how many other factual mixups he has.

By the way....not to be too picky, but isn’t he suddenly awfully proud of his mother’s side of the family when he and his wife have attended a church that was critical of white America to the point of hatred?

Just asking.

Is he going to apologize for saying the Uncle was up in the attic for 6 months?

What’s going to happen to US industry when the global warming extremists like John McCain double the price of electricity?  I would think all these factories will close and set up in countries where they aren’t scared of technology.

Just how proud is he of his uncl...er...great uncle when he can’t even remember the major details of his service.

If I were proud of a story like that, I’d remember.

Obama’s still a flippin’ liar as far as I’m concerned.

I have four great uncles who served in Europe during WW II. I couldn’t tell you what any of them did. They didn’t talk about it much.

So, before you held a press conference or made a speech about what they all did, you might want to double check your facts?

Pilgrim: Your post reminds me of a book I read in college. Only it wasn’t a book, it was a movie. And it wasn’t in college, it was last year. And I didn’t actually see it, but a friend of mine did.
But, other than that, it was exactly like your post!

OFF THREAD A BIT; This weekend visiting with very liberal, pro-union, Billy Jeff loving relatives, it was unanimous that they could not, would not vote for Hillary and especially not for Obama whom they fear. So, with these liberals rejecting Obama so passionately, I am beginning to have some hope.

Further, I have heard from some people I respect in the media and political circles that they are predicting a near landslide for McCain, with Obama getting the most liberal states, but failing everywhere else by large margins. These same people say the Republicans will lose big time in the Congress and it is because they have tin ears and are fooling themselves that they will pull things out at the last minute.

No matter the age or state of health, for a military man it is always glorious to tilt at windmills, rescue a fair Dulcinea and be a gallant knight in armor in a glorious cause.

This latest gaffe by Obama gives me an opportunity to repeat my question, first posed due to his apparently new found admiration for his grandparents, and now all of a sudden for an Uncle he couldn’t remember was a Great Uncle!

Why didn’t he write a book about him if he’s so proud of him?

Instead he writes a book about his deadbeat Dad, and his American Hating preacher - Jeremiah Wright.

Damn, Obama this is what we call the “Audacity of Reality”.

The desperate Leiberman Neo-Libs and Jewish Lobby have evidently started obedience training on Obama. An all consuming obsession with Israel’s survival is the first step in his political enslavement. The risk for Obama is that the Kennedy Democrats will disown him; and the risk for the Judeofascists, being notorious haters of the Christian and Muslim cultures, is that Obama will lead a revolt against them.

Jeugenen on May 27, 2008 at 07:38 pm

What..?

the Judeofascists

Who are these people?  Wait, let’s keep reading..

being notorious haters of the Christian and Muslim cultures

If the word Muslim was removed I would guess this person was talking about the left in this country.  Now I am even more confused.  Oh well.

No.  He gets the hall pass for making fun of the crazy folks in this country.  See, his team said it was a “mistake” on this gaffe.  So if the original comment was a mistake, then everything said after that is off limits.

Didn’t you get the rule book from the left..?  This is spelled out in article 3 sec 4.24.  All comments made after a gaffe in a Presidential election by a democrat are made non existant because the gaffe was also non existant.  In an election for a lower office, the rule is good for two weeks after said gaffe.

Neiman.

I think the majority of normal decent people are keeping quiet on this election and will voice their opinion by ballot and then all this loony leftwing nonsense will be done with. Just because the left and the MSM are void of common sense it doesn’t mean the rest of the nation is also.

Proof,

I think you do too!

Mikey,

While I agree, I also believe many on the right will sit this one out or vote way off party, Mickey Mouse/Donald Duck like.

Barry is the most left of any dem nominee in my lifetime (40+).  I see him winning only when the conservatives protest this election.
