I personally don’t think things are improving that well but the experts say they are stabilized. The stimulus is working; I just read an RFP for stimulus-funded projects in WA. It takes time for billions of dollars to get distributed fairly.

All the economic indicators you mentioned were all bad before Jan 20th. Despite your claims otherwise, the mess can still be blamed on the previous administration (see Carter trap above). No one expected a quick fix; those that did will be disappointed.

Can you imagine the trick it would have been if he achieved HC reform within a year of taking office, something that has been tried since Truman, affecting 1/6 of the economy, against HUGE opposition from the industry and republicans, all during an economic meltdown?? I am surprised he took it this far, farther than anyone else has. You’re kidding yourself if you think it’s over.

The stimulus package hasn’t, and GDP is still heading downward, while unemployment continues upward… along with Obama deficit. The Iranians are 6 months further along in their unimpeded quest for nukes and the North Koreans are still testing missiles and warheads.

The defeat of so-called “healthcare reform” and “cap’n’ tax” are because Democrats are hearing from the folks at home who sent them to Congress in the first place, and apparently the message is that if they pass either of these bills those folks back home will replace them with Republicans when they first get the chance.

In these tough economic times, it seems that Senators and Congressmen are not immune to concerns about job security. Obama’s coattails have shortened significantly in just the past 6 months.
