Obama Mouthpiece Dodges Question About Nancy Pelosi
The Obama administration doesn’t want any part of the mess at hand.
This is Obama’s style of “leadership,” I guess.
Real Clear Politics’ description of the exchange:
FOX News’ Major Garrett was the first and only reporter to ask Press Secretary Robert Gibbs what the White House’s reaction is to Nancy Pelosi’s accusation that the C.I.A. lied to her. Gibbs said President Obama is “keeping the American people safe by looking forward.” Garrett reminded Gibbs this is a serious matter, leading Gibbs to respond that he will not “R.S.V.P” to get involved.
I don’t think the Obama administration gets off that easy. Obama is the one who opened this can of worms by wanting to hold hearings and prosecute Bush administration officials involved in waterboarding. Now it has become clear (at least to me) that, despite her lies to the contrary, Nancy Pelosi knew the waterboarding was happening and gave it at least her tacit approval. Obama is also the one sitting on the intelligence documents that could a) prove definitively one way or another whether Pelosi is lying and b) whether or not waterboarding worked to gain intelligence that stopped attacks, he is right in the middle of this.
But, as usual, the Obama administration is all form and little substance.
