Obama: Military Succeeded In Every Mission In Iraq, But Bush Still Lost

More of that bi-partisanship and unity Obama is famous for:

Despite touting the military’s victories in Iraq during his Friday speech in North Carolina, Obama isn’t prepared to declare the American invasion a success.
“I think what we can say unequivocally is that our military succeeded in every mission that was given to them,” Obama said. “I don’t think we can rightly say that the strategy cooked up by our civilian leadership, with respect to either going in, in the first place, or how the war was managed, was a success.”

Violence is way down in Iraq. An elected government is in charge and taking over the country. And our military is victorious. But Bush lost. Because admitting that Bush did something right just isn’t convenient for Obama.
By the way, The One is taking some heat from Congressional Democrats for daring to institute a responsible draw-down plan for Iraq.

Appearing on PBS’s “NewsHour With Jim Lehrer,” President Barack Obama had some advice for Democrats expressing surprise at his newly defined Iraq policy: Start listening.
“They, maybe, weren’t paying attention to what I said during the campaign. I said that we were going to take 16 months to withdraw our combat troops from Iraq. We are now taking 18 months instead of 16,” Obama told Lehrer, noting he’d long supported leaving residual forces there and using troops for training missions. “Obviously, because of consultations with commanders on the ground — something I also said I would do — there are some modifications to the plan.”
Both House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, among other Democrats, have expressed concern at Obama’s plan to leave as many as 50,000 American troops in Iraq through 2011.

I’ve said before that I’m supportive of Obama’s plan for withdrawal in Iraq. his in ability to be honest about how wrong he’s been about the war aside, I think what Obama has proposed is a perfectly reasonable plan for bringing the war to end.
And “reasonable” is probably what’s tripping Pelosi and Reid up.

What kids? I thought you had them all aborted from and I quote, “All the sluts you knocked up”

Quit dragging your knuckles and get back to your cage little monkey!

I see obama is trying to take credit for the victory that george bush created. Obama is a shit stain.

Exactly! The reason Bush was never mentioned or credited in Bambi’s speech is because he wants to take the credit for ending the war in Iraq. We’ll see how that works out for the socialist. Giving a firm date for pullout, gives the enemy the time and patience to determine their next move.

And patience they have, so much more than us Americans!

If nothing else, we won freedom for the Iraqi people.

Yea, good point. Your kids life, and the lives of other neocons are worthless enough to give themselves for “Iraqi freedom”. But MY kids will stay here until there is something worth dieing for. Go ask the 4,252 people if they are glad there son or father or husband is dead so that the Iraq citizens can vote. Give me a fu**ing break.

I’ll bet you just cry yourself to sleep at night worrying about the poor people in Darfur, Somalia, Angola and Sierra Leone, don’t you. Dont even try to give us that shit. None of you give crap about the Iraqi people. Only one person was able to keep those animals in line…. and they hung him.

They don’t want other people to have freedom and democracy at all. They don’t want them to have even a chance for them. They will not raise a finger for anyone else.

The clueless and uninformed chime in with nonsense yet again. Wrong answer, sweetpea. Those who ordered and supported the invasion and occupation of Iraq are the ones who don’t care about the Iraqi people. I have witnessed how we “care” about freedom and democracy for the Iraqi people. Those ideas are nothing more than words for the American public to consume. Those on the ground see it for what it is.

The nation we set out to free from the tyranny of Saddam Hussein and visit with the blessings of democracy has paid a hellish price for its salvation: Hundreds of thousands of Iraqis have been slaughtered in civil war and ethnic cleansing, and as collateral damage in the war. Millions more have been forced from their homes and turned into refugees abroad and displaced persons inside their own country.

    Rob,

What is it about your blog that draws all the America haters?

  • Buckets

Hats off to the Bush Administration for keeping this country safe since 9/11. Remember, it’s wasn’t Bush’s war, it was America’s war. President Bush and all members of Congress agreed on going to war with Iraq.

Remember, Obama has only been in office 40 days and already has created more debt for this country then the Bush Administration did in it’s entire 8 years. If you have any money now, you won’t after Obama and his liberal group get done with all their spending. Continue, drinking your kool-aid that is one way to get through the next 4 years.

  • robert108

Like a typical leftie loser, Obama is cutting and running from his terrorist buddies. He’s throwing it away with his cowardice. Wars end when somebody wins and somebody loses; if you leave before the other guy surrenders, you lose. Announcing that you’re leaving before the other guy surrenders is just giving up, and letting the enemy know when it can celebrate a win. Expect dancing in the streets, just like the terrorists did on 9/11. Obama is a disgrace to this country and to the Office of POTUS.

Who gives a shit what senile old KKK Byrd said? Bush decided to invade Iraq based on violations of UN Resolution 1441 and on the advice of the CIA and letters urging him to do so from both Clintons, John Kerry and many other democrats who now try to conveniently make us forget they supported the invasion. It wasn’t illegal. It was sanctioned by intelligence, international law and bipartisan political support.

    Greetings:

I watched President Obama on the “NewsHour With Jim Lehrer” on PBS this evening and it reminded me of my Sundays in the country. Genuflections in the morning and softballs in the afternoon.

Today’s question: What’s Black & White and Red all over.

  • http://norseberserker.blogspot.com/ Rugby Reader

The Bush Administration planned for an attack against Iraq before September 11th, 2001. They used the false pretense of an imminent nuclear, chemical and biological weapons threat to deceive Congress into rationalizing this unnecessary conflict. The United States assaulted and occupied Iraq without the consent of the UN Security Council. In doing so they violated the same body of laws they accused Iraq of breaching.

“The resolution before us today is not only a product of haste; it is also a product of presidential hubris. This resolution is breathtaking in its scope. It redefines the nature of defense, and reinterprets the Constitution to suit the will of the Executive Branch. It would give the President blanket authority to launch a unilateral preemptive attack on a sovereign nation that is perceived to be a threat to the United States. This is an unprecedented and unfounded interpretation of the President’s authority under the Constitution, not to mention the fact that it stands the charter of the United Nations on its head.”

Senator Robert Byrd of West Virginia, remarks made on the floor of the U.S. Senate, October 3, 2002).

  • bill-tb

Liberals are really cruel. The Acting President Obama couldn’t even thank the troops, declare victory was theirs and offer thanks for their sacrifices.

It’s all about him, isn’t it.

  • Mickey

Obama’s decision to maintain a sizable U.S. military presence in Iraq is showing a commitment to Iraq’s continued democratic progress and should help deter a revival of ethnic tensions. This action proves Bush was right all along. And actions speak louder than words, especially Obamas empty rhetoric.

How can the war be illegal when it was overwhelmingly approved by both houses of congress?

    Hm… more blogroach droppings.

Obama likes to use the straw man argument as much as possible. He is a very weak man himself and proves it often. I’ll be looking forward to his imminent downfall. It can’t happen too soon.

I love the Iraqi woman’s expression, her determined look on her face speaks of dignity and humanity; I am proud of the great accomplishments achieved by America’s freedom fighters!

Further, I am trilled the Iraqi people voted against the Iraqi Islamic Party; Iraqis rejected Islamdom’s tyranny and this is a beautiful thing.

Saudia Arabia- owned Charles Freeman (obama’s national intelligence director) better not screw the Iraqi people with Obama’s blood money.

    Don’t listen to the shitbird.

    There’s a reason for everything.

Normally, Marines remain staunch Marines, even after they are old and grey. Even unto death.

But those who can’t cut the mustard, and who have had their buttons ripped off their tunics, their swords broken and then been drummed in dishonor out the front gate are the ones who sound like the Rug Rat.

I do recall one ex-Marine who absolutely hated the Marine Corps. Turns out he had been a DI, but drummed out under less-than-honorable circumstances.

The sting for them is that the Marine Corps is an honorable institution and it has judged them and found them unworthy. They know it and feel the sting of everlasting shame.

They will feel it every day of their lives. The only thing they can do to protect their injured psyche is to turn the shame outward in the form of hatred.

    Essentially, shitbirds.

Not saying he was actually drummed out, but it sure sounds like it — if in fact he was ever a Marine at all.

  • bustoff

We did not “win” anything from Bush’s invasion of Iraq.

Yours is not the definitive opinion, sir. The real answer to that question has already been delivered by an Iraqi people freed from the murderous oppression of Saddam Hussein. An Iraqi people who stand in line to cast their votes in free elections for the first time in their lives.

We here in America have the luxury of debating our presence in Iraq as a matter of conflicting political ideologies. The Iraqi people were paying for their struggle for freedom with their very lives. If the Iraqi people are grateful for what our military intervention did for their nation, then so am I.

RR, real southerners, and I have a number in my family both sides of the marriage, do not write “y’all” online. It verges on onomatopoeia and is certainly unnecessary and when done by genuine southerners in print, is usually used as a mark of sarcasm immediately following a remark of questionable quality regarding their being southern. African-Americans who use the pronunciation also do not spell it out online for the same reason that being that it would not be consciously thought necessary and thus not trigger a mental break point from learned grammatical rules.

Your usage is an unrealistic and non-sequitur near obsession.

So, you manage to make yourself look dumber than your actual politics which themselves are obsessive-compulsive vis-à-vis you constant harping on the former president and inability to articulate anything remotely approaching a refined argument in favor of the currrent president’s policies.

I just thought you should know.

Obama: Military Succeeded In Every Mission In Iraq, But Bush Still Lost

Sounds like something the blog roach would say.

    Buzz:

Only one person was able to keep those animals in line…. and they hung him.

Yet more racism from Buzz. He calls the Iraqi people animals.

Now you see the true reason why he and RR and so on are against the war. They don’t want other people to have freedom and democracy at all. They don’t want them to have even a chance for them. They will not raise a finger for anyone else. Dino shows the rest of the story (rest well Paul Harvey) in that they really don’t want freedom for anyone but themselves and won’t raise a finger for anyone but themselves.

They’re also the sort to be the first to bitch and moan when enemies are at every gate about how someone should have come to our rescue and aid and done something earlier.

    Morons.
