Obama Leading Hillary Because The Former Is A Better Liar Than The Latter

Abe Greenwald:

Almost two weeks ago, Barack Obama gave his landmark speech refusing to cut ties with radical pastor Jeremiah Wright. Only days after Obama publicly accepted Wright as a flawed brother-in-arms, Hillary Clinton was caught giving an outlandishly exaggerated account of a 1996 trip she made to war-torn Bosnia. Now Obama’s lead over Hillary among Democrats is at its high for the year—so far. A new Gallup poll shows Obama leading Hillary 52 to 42 percent. What is it about the Democratic electorate and the two candidates that accounts for Barack Obama’s seeming triumph? In other words, why do Democratic voters consider Wrightgate less problematic than Snipergate?

That’s a great question.  “Snipergate” was an embarrassing bit of crass and untrue self-promotion.  “Wrightgate” is about Obama’s close personal ties to a bigoted extremist.  A reasonable person would conclude that Hillary’s lie about being under sniper fire while First Lady, while absurd and pathetic, is ultimately harmless.  Obama’s ties to Wright illustrate a troubling connection to the sort of extremist racial and political beliefs most Americans aren’t going to find very appetizing.

I think the reason the liberal masses are willing to forgive Obama and not Clinton is because they’ve invested themselves emotionally in Obama.  They’re in for a shock though, I think, when they find out that the country in general may not be so invested.  Or forgiving.

Obama claims that he transcends race when he clearly does not.  If this country is to ever going to have a honest debate about race then people people like Jackson, Sharpton, and their minions need to quit branding everyone a racist.  White people hear that and decide to not participate.  Bill Oreilly has been talking about that lately on his radio show (that’s how you give credit Walton & Johnson).

I would be willing to discuss race, but maybe that’s because I’ve gotten used to being called a racist, bigoted, homophobic conservative with no heart.  haha

A political party cannot be all things to all people. It must represent certain fundamental beliefs which must not be compromised to political expediency, or simply to swell its numbers.

You are right on Rob, as usual.  I just spoke with a friend today and asked “how is it that Obama isn’t doing so poorly in polls that he is dropping out of the race and out of sight?” We then discussed the possibility that the Obama camp knew this would all come out, and decided the best thing to do was to let it hit right after Texas knowing there is a huge gap until the Pennsylvania primary.  Liberals have short memories, 911 is like a bad dream they had but hey, let’s move on.  It is almost like they don’t realize the seriousness of things unless it affects them directly (ie. their relative died on 9/11).  I am at a loss, I know not all dems are “liberal”, but they still vote along side of them.  I am shocked that Obama is ahead of Clinton again, and worry I’ll be even more shocked once the looooong lull to November finally arrives.  Godspeed Mac, the alternatives could damage this country for years.

It all boils down to the media.

Right now all the major media outlets are actively supporting the Empty-Suit, and have been since he first announced his intention to run.

Hillary now finds herself in the same position that Republican’s usually find themselves in during the general election. And like most liberals, Hillary has no practice at running a campaign when the Media is actively supporting your opponent.

One would think that Bill would have given Hillary personal lessons by now to improve her lying abilities.  Guess he might not be around that often.

Rob,
Those are my exact thoughts. Hillary seems to be enjoying the support of “silent followers” throughout the American heartland disconnected from the mainstream media.  How else can one explain that she manages to stay so close to the lead in popular votes despite all the Anti-Hillary rhetoric spewed by the MSM?  We’ll see if this is borne out by the results of the Pennsylvania primary on April 22nd.
